A local brewing company is currently aging some porter (I think) in oak whiskey barrels in their dining room. I wouldn't have noticed but the name on the side of the barrels is the name from the whiskey (Rye) I just finished at my birthday party.

Just drank a Brooklyn Brewery Black Chocolate Stout. 10% Alcohol. This is in the top 5 of my favorite stouts. It was heavy, but had a perfect blend of chocolate and roasted malts; yet the flavor wasn't overpowering.
I had a couple of Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stouts at the new World of Beer location last night. I have really been on a Russian imperial stout kick lately. I like how the little bit of extra malty sweetness balances the bitterness of the stout so well. Do recommend.

Everytime it gets cold out I get on a Stout kick. When we see warmer weather I go for the Ale's. My wife bought me a case of Yuengling Seasonal Bock Beer for Valentines day. I think this is the best beer you can buy for under $20 a case, and also my favorite Yuengling product.

Braineack bought me a sixer of Caldera Pale Ale and it was good. On the hoppier side of pale ales.

He also bought me a Full Sail "Bump in the Night" Cascadian Dark Ale. I liked this one a lot. It was very american ale style with a little bit more roastiness. Surprisingly tasty.

(I helped him pick these out, but he is very nice for funding my vice)

not sure if its been listed yet, but my god dont try sam adams triple bock, its soo ******* nasty....lol.. not sure what makes it worth 20 a bottle, but im glad i didnt buy it.. its like old nasty cough syrup..lol... not recomended...lol..
However, the correct way to drink one is to have it well chilled, decant into a brandy snifter, but DO NOT decant the entire bottle. There was enough natural sediment in the brew you wouldn't want to pour the entire bottle when new; now there has been enough settling the last ounce or so (provided the bottle was handled carefully prior to pouring) that you don't want that disturbing the rest of the beverage. - Moral of the story, chill the bottle overnight at a minimum, allowing everything time to settle before gently pouring.
The epilogue is that SA's Triple is what is used to seed production of the Utopias. Of which, another batch is supposed to be released this summer. Rumor has it San Antonio will only be alloted five (5) bottles.
In that SA's supplies of the Triple are dwindling, they are looking at recreating the Triple, but with 15 more years of crafting experience. Should be a good thing...

Lagunitas SF Fusion is an absurdly bitter and boozy American Strong Ale kegged at 12%. The Brewer claimed that it sported 280 ibu’s in the wort. Perfect in every way. The appearance belies its potency. Also tried Pliney the Younger last week; a dangerously delicious ale. S.F. beer week has taken its toll on my productivity. Hop acids are oozing from my pores.

Going to my favorite local bottle shop (it's actually called "The Bottle Shop) for the last time today. Worst part is it's just to drop off a final load of emptys for some $$. I've got about a case and a half of random Euro brews left to kill (plus a weekend trip to Ireland) then it's off to the desert with no alcohol for a year or so... FML, you guys better kep this thread going in my absence.
