Beer of the Day thread (and ci-derp)
We've just started seeing Yuengling out here on the left coast, but its not exactly cheap once it gets here. Its usually at the larger chain grocers like *** Hill or Safway, never seen it in the local bottle shops. If I can find a 6 that hasn't been horribly light struck and is less than $10 (lol) I'll give it a shot.

They sell beer in grocery stores and gas stations here, but it's only 3.2%.
Still have to go to the liquor store for the good stuff, and it's at room temp. I loved a few months ago when I was in Boston and could walk in and buy a cold 4-pack of Green Flash Double Stout.

Too bad they are owned by AB/InBev now :(
It's funny, AB/InBev has done this a couple times now with smaller breweries simply to get the brand name and product lines. No one is going to buy an IPA from Anheuser Busch but Goose Island? I'll try that! I mean, drink what you like. I'm certainly not going to hate

Being a homebrewer I have MAD respect for Bud/Miller/Coors even though I tend not to drink their products. To make that light a beer in that volume with that consistency from year to year to year is absolutely mindblowing to me. If I was forced to choose I'd take a Miller over a Bud or a Coors, otherwise I order water.

Check out their ownership and others' in this pic. Its pretty massive and hard to avoid one unless you know your microbreweries. So, very difficult for the average consumer.

Like E02K said, the consistency of their product is a huge testament to their quality control and mastery of the beverage they are trying to make. Every time you order it regardless of where you get it, the time of year, the year, etc. it will be spot on. My brewing science professor was really not a fan of them, but always gave em credit for that.
No small scale operation or home brewer is going to be able to do that. Temp conditions, sanitation, ingredient quality variation, the list goes on.

It's American Craft Beer Week, for which I bought some friends to hang out with me.
I went through the Weyerbacher IPA and TC coffee oatmeal stout. Neither impressed me with the IPA being not hoppy as in almost no hop character and too malty. I like IPAs that smash my face into a trough of grapefruit and citrus. Then the stout was too light in body and low in coffee flavor for the name bestowed unto it

So next comes
Now this guy is more like it. I can't even see through it when held up to the light. Pretty heavy body and all the roasty coffee yum yums which I seek. Recommend.

I just had the Founders porter last weekend for the first time in a while. i thoight the exavt same thing as you did. Founders makes amazing beer. Their breakfast stout, and especially Kentucky breakfast stout is amazing. Founders backwoods bastard is my favorite beer of all time. If I'm not mistaken, Backwoods Bastard is their Old Dirty Bastard scotch ale that is aged in bourbon barrels. It is absolutely absurd how amazing it is.

For anyone who goes on a German beer kick, you must try Weihenstephan Hefeweissbier Dark, simply amazing. Even people who think they don't like craft beer will think its awesome.
Can't go wrong with a brewery that has been brewing since 1040.
I think I'll start posting notable brews here. Is this the most active beer thread?

Yeah, you wonder wtf right? Well it turns out it's actually a very subtle (yet enjoyable!) wasabi flavor undertone more than it is a spicy, nose running flavor.
I liked it a lot.
