Split this with EO2k tonight to celebrate the first drive of my Exocet up and down the street this evening :)

EO2K 06-30-2014 01:31 PM

And it was quite tasty

Dustin1824 06-30-2014 03:11 PM

Thats a really good beer. I prefer the 8 over this one, but it's still a tasty beverage. It's quite malty, but it has that awesome cherry dark fruit taste that is ever so pleasant.

The 6, 8, and 10 are all outstanding beers.

I need to post pics of the glasses my bother gave me for my birthday. Snifters that hold a full 22oz bomber with a fairly aggressive pour FTW!

Came across this one a few weeks ago. Highly recommended. DO yourself a favor and pick some up, thank me later!

Sierra Nevada Torpedo IPA tonight. Nothing amazing, but a really solid drinkable IPA.

Yep, one of the best wood aged beer I have ever had. Very unique, but be ready for a HUGE beer with tons of flavor. Really good on a cold night.

somebody likes em like Don Ho likes em. Tiny bubbles.

Meanwhile this shit is frigging delicious:

It's hoppy for sure, but the dark roasty malt tones down the flavor into a very drinkable and delicious beer.

^^ Sierra Nevada makes some good beer. They recently came out with their 2014 version of the Nahrwal Imperial Stout. Well worth a try at just $10-12/4pack.

Also, I stumbled upon (and after consuming) a couple of these ** bad boys recently. If you enjoy a monster RIS, I highly recommend you not pass these up!!

Had a beer explosion take place at some point over the past week. I've been away, and the missus unplugged the beer fridge. Apparently DC Brau left a few too many live yeasties in this can, with plenty to munch on, and they got a little overzealous in the ~70° climate inside the de-powered fridge.

I've seen this happen with homebrew bottles before, but first time I've encountered it with a store-bought can. I still have three other cans from this batch, and they feel pretty rigid right now. Placed each one into a 1 gallon ziploc bag, and will be opening them with extreme caution over the sink.

New Belgian Ranger IPA last night (and later today). Pretty good. Nice and hoppy.

...

Joe, aside from explosive, how is that DC Brau porter anyway, and have you tried Oskar Blues "Ten Fiddy"?

y8s 11-09-2014 01:40 PM

They make a bourbon barrel aged Ten Fidy. Holy mackerel it's good.

I haven't had a chance to try one yet. Will most certainly be opening one this evening, after all the trouble I've been through.

I have. Thought I'd posted it somewhere in this thread. Excellent beer.

Hadn't tried that one. Although my very first experience with Oskar Blues was at the Falling Rock in Denver, just after GABF. They were pouring extremely small glasses of one of the award-winners, which was basically Old Chub that had been aged in a sherry cask.

It may have been the best beer I have ever tasted.

I'm not a huge beer guy but I was craving one tonight and figured I'd grab a couple in celebration of my car finally being "finished"

Lots of options...

Left with a 6 pack of these, and a bottle of chimay red

I have heard of it, but have never been able to locate this beer. I really like Ten Fidy, and I enjoy some good bourbon, so I figure I would love this beer.

Does it come in cans like the regular Ten Fidy, or is it one of those special releases where they only ship half kegs out to a few special beer bars?

y8s 11-09-2014 09:27 PM

They might can it but I had it on tap.

I've also had Anderson Valley's Port Barrel Stout. That is a crazy mother effer of a beer. The first 3 or 4 sips make you want to perform bestiality on the farm animals at the brewery. After you get used to it, your palate adjusts and you realize the delicious complexity of it.

There is also a local brewpub place near me (Mad Fox) that makes a delicious wee heavy and ages it on another local establishment's rye whisky barrels. I actually like their rye and have some on the shelf right now. It's pretty great to see the synergy.

This is my study buddy tonight. Possibly the one good thing to come out of Cleveland, is anything from the Great Lakes Brewery. By far their best beer is Christmas Ale which just happened to hit the shelves a week or so ago. I'm not sure how widespread Great Lakes is, but if you're passing through Ohio, do yourself a favor and try it. At 7.5%, a few of these is all you need. Best served with cinnamon sugar on the rim.

Strangely, I don't think I have had anything by Great Lakes, and I believe I have seen it on the shelf before. It always surprises me that I have tried new beers every week for 5 years and there's still so many beers I haven't tried before.

This was my beer for the night:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1415601489

Gotta love snifters that hold an entire 22oz bomber!

This would actually make a good Christmas beer, although it isn't marketed as such. There's cocoa, coffee, peppers, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg, and I think they all play their part in this beer. I usually don't like beers that are this "busy", I usually like beers that have few ingredients that are very well crafted, but this is a solid beer.

Everything from Stone is good though, so it's not a big surprise for me.

Opened two of them this evening. They are, as the name suggests, robust. A moderately burnt taste, not terribly complex, but quite enjoyable. They poured with a staggeringly large head, but that was expected given the recent activity.
