OK guys, I got got one for those who don't mind a stout that you could cut with a steak knife. What a beast!
"Vicious and viscous, this menacing brew pours opaque black with a creamy maduro-colored head. Its aroma offers seductive whiskey, chewy red wine, dark fruit and lavish tobacco. Berserker Imperial Stout invades your taste buds with in-your-face flavor. Weighing in at almost 13% alcohol by volume, Berserker is completely out-of-control. Give it a good fight. This version of Berserker Imperial Stout was aged in oak bourbon barrels. The entire batch was transferred from oak into a stainless tank before being filtered, carbonated and packaged in kegs and 22-oz bottles." http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-k4IOo0i5co...Berserker1.JPG http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OuVPWXsild...Berserker2.JPG |

I cellar it in my abdomen. |
Actually it ages quite well. The 2012s are just starting to get really good. At $5/btl its a great low investment way to learn a bit more about how beer works, and what age can do for something. Get 3~4 bottles and put it in a box in the back of your closet and forget about it until you add more bottles the next year. Then its vertical tasting time. :bigtu:

You made a great decision on that being first. Thank you.
What were your thoughts? |
It was good and relatively complex and aromatic.
|
I've never bought it in large quantity, just had it by tje bottle here and there at a few special local microbrew bars. A friend of mine saw it at a somewhat local beer distributor, said it was a $90 case of beer. I was a little shocked at that.
I know Backwoods Bastard is supposed to be their Dirty Bastard scotch ale, but aged in bourbon barrels. I assume the aging process would create the need for the high price. |
It was pretty much the same price as the others that were on tap.
