F me if Caldera Ashland Amber isn't going to be the beer I call "my favorite" when people ask. It might not be the one I want every time, but it sure is good.

not my pic:

I love Caldera, being relatively close to them, most local restaurants have them on tap.

My buddy just toured the brewery last weekend and picked up a couple cases of under filled cans for extremely cheap. He dropped off a case of their IPA as a happy Monday present.

The only Caldera I've found was their 'Old Growth Imperial Stout', which is also very nice.

Presentation leaves much to be desired, but I'm working through a bottle of Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout at the moment.

I'm not usually a fan of Lagunitas but this is surprisingly tasty. Sadly yes, that is my office desk. The 9.2% helps dull the "I'm going to be stuck here till 9pm on a Friday night" pain.

Damn you! That's what I WOULD be drinking, but they locked the board room (read:bar) on me. There is a shiny new bottle of Tanqueray #10 in there with my name on it. :vash:

Lagunitas Cappuccino is pretty good in my book. I'll update what I get into somewhere on MT tonight...probably the drunkening thread lol

maine beer company mean old tom stout aged on vanilla beans.

A good stout but I didn't taste any vanilla (which made me a little sad?)

...

You might want to give one of these a try: Ballast Point "Victory at Sea" Porter with coffee and vanilla

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1393696301

I could definitely taste the vanilla

y8s 03-01-2014 07:47 PM

I will see if my local store has it.

^^You might also have a look out for this too: (The ABV is way lower though)

Stone Brewing- "Smoked Porter with Vanilla Bean" from their Limited Winter Edition series.

EDIT: . . . aaaand last but certainly not least, be on the look out for one of these "Dark Lord Bourbon Barrel Aged w/Vanilla Bean Russian Imperial Stout" by Three Floyds Brewing Co. & Brewpub ( http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/26/42349/ ), they are supposed to be absolutely epic, but I have never, ever been able to locate one. Maybe you can get them back east?

Please describe the taste. Where was it made?

EO2K 03-17-2014 01:42 PM

Pinot Noir barrels for a damn year? That must be one big ass beer, 16% is no joke. I would imagine something vinous, oaky and slight sour under some kind of big ass RIS?
