HPDE's at PIR happen on Monday's and Thursdays quite a bit. The BMW day this month was a Monday, the Porche day was last thursday. Be sure to check the portlandraceway.com calendar and also follow the links to the various car clubs. The PIR calendar isn't complete.
It's a heck of a lot easier for me to make HPDE than any of the autocrosses. They are Saturday/ Sunday exclusively.

With our lack of horsepower (NA motors) I'm sure I'm picking up all sorts of bad habits. We can get away with poor throttle control since our motors don't really have any snap. Now that you're pulling the trigger on real horsepower it's going to be a whole new experience. I've been going through all the maintenance stuff and now I'm starting to preinstall the turbo stuff. Hope to have mine pressurized by July.

We had a guy come out to an autocross in a POS Camaro with racing stickers all over it. Claimed he was a stunt driver who had worked on 2 Fast 2 Furious. Wore a full Nomex drivers suit the whole day, even when ******** cones, 95 deg. 95% humidity. I was 3 seconds faster than him, on a 35 sec. Course, in an E-Stock Miata on street tires.
Where do these people come from?

Man, I just want to get out on the track this summer. Hopefully I won't make a fool of myself.
It's weird how when people get lots of money, they think they can drive anything. I'm not sure how much this pertains to this subject, but the other day I saw a teenager driving a SLR with his dad in the passenger seat, and my dad hesitated on letting me drive his z3 4 cylinder! Money truly corrupts (but i'd still like more of it!)

I hear you there, I would love to take my car out to the track, but it would be about $1k more to get the car track ready at this point since I would need some good brake pads, a roll bar, and a larger capacity radiator since I am boosted.
