Biggest train wrecks in MT.N history

Let's get a collection of all the biggest derailments in mt.n history. I have a long roadtrip this weekend, and it'll give me soemthing to read through while i'm riding.

I'll start: https://www.miataturbo.net/diy-turbo...-max-hp-66091/

tl;dr
"How much power can my injectors make"
"Here's a website that will help you figure it all out"
"So I can make 300?"
"No, look at this massively bolded area, here:"
"OMG WANT TO RACE WANT TO FIGHT THIS IS HOW PEOPLE GET SHOT"

what?

shuiend 01-24-2014 02:39 PM

You obviously were not around for the ChuckyZ murder. I am pretty sure we made Jalopnik with that thread.

18psi 01-24-2014 02:39 PM

That was an interesting thread/meetup.
I was so excited to come out and meet him too, was kinda hoping he'd say something about the thread when we met

Savington 01-24-2014 02:50 PM

I'm pretty sure this forum is never going to top this post:

1. I have your ip address and a friend who works for the APD so I can get where you live and your name.
2. I do own a gun (actually 3) and I have concealed handgun licencse.
3. I take threats on my life very seriously. You continue and there will be consequences.

:bowrofl:

EO2K 01-24-2014 02:50 PM

I knew MT made it onto Jalopnik thanks to Joes $0.50 piston mod routine but was unaware there was a reference to the ChuckyZ debacle.

Got a link?

So much sad and so much stupid.

18psi 01-24-2014 02:59 PM

I think the real kicker to that whole story was when we confirmed months later that he is in jail for murder or standing trial or about to, and his family was parting out his stuff.

EO2K 01-24-2014 03:04 PM

Yeah, I looked into that a bit more after hearing about it. I'm somewhat surprised Texas didn't light him up based on what I read. That's some pretty horrible shit. His dad seemed like a solid guy after reading that thread, such a shame for all involved though.

mlev 01-24-2014 03:25 PM

O_o wow.

Interestingly I have actually read a few posts in that thread before, when I was considering ordering begi and was looking into them "being begi".. Didn't get to the second page though, as it was pretty clear it was derailing.

In other news, I ordered my begi-s a couple days ago! Woot.

It might have only been the piston mod that made it there. It has been several years and my mind is sort of hazy.

mlev 01-24-2014 03:36 PM

This place is a treasure trove. No wonder you all flame noobs who don't search.

I hope you have been lurking a lot longer than you've been registered else you jus trollin' with this thread.

Another fun fact: OP can add a few of his OWN threads to this list ;)

:-P I still stand that the map question wasn't a bad one.

Some of the others, definitely.

EDIT: Also, I still don't see it posted anywhere that you need to pay to use an avatar--except when you're on the road to actually donate. So unless a noob came here and was immediately like "oh shit, I should give these guys some money", I don't know how they would know. But then, I suppose I'm biased.. ;)

Savington 01-24-2014 07:02 PM

What made Joe's quarters-glued-to-pistons thing epic was the fact that he doctored an old magazine article to actually create a historical reference to it. That took it over the top.

shuiend 01-24-2014 07:17 PM

RicanRacer had some good ones with his oil being stolen and such.

Oscar 01-24-2014 07:23 PM

Was he the dude that went about roundhouse kicking people in the face?

EO2K 01-24-2014 07:49 PM

Ok, I just couldn't not look up this RicanRacer guy... https://www.miataturbo.net/insert-bs...abotaged-4880/

I'm glad you liked it- I was quite proud of that one- one of my better trolls. I actually created the whole magazine page from scratch, printed it, crumpled it a bit, then scanned it at low resolution to make it look authentic.

And I'm still pissed at Jalopnik for not merely failing to give me credit, but for actually getting the whole thing completely backwards.

Erat, the saga unfolded on M.net, not here. We just used MT as the staging ground for the attack.

EO2K 01-24-2014 08:18 PM

Not exactly a derail, but 150 posts worth of :hahano:

https://www.miataturbo.net/insert-bs...n-teaser-6054/

Note the JoeP 1 year thread resurrection around post 145

Joe Perez 01-24-2014 08:22 PM

What about the kid who kept cranking his carbed V8 Miata after it caught on fire? That clip deserves to be here.

Erat 01-24-2014 08:25 PM

Still can't find your thread JoeP.

I accept defeat.

Samnavy won the whole internet at post 110 on that one.

Erat, I'll try to dig up a link.

And yeah, that's the video. Good stuff.

To be fair, they only reported it because I suggested it in the comments of the "what's the biggest troll thread" post. I suppose they misread my submission and didn't bother to do any research and just posted some half-assed crap.

Here it is: Building high compression pistons - MX-5 Miata Forum

Braineack's post #41 contained the link to the fake magazine article which I created, though the link seems to be dead now. I'll have to see if I can dig up a copy of the original...

Post #89 is where the hilarity really begins.

Opti 01-24-2014 09:22 PM

Ive read that thread many times and what amazes me is no one at m.net realized how big of a fail it was at first, and instead they were arguing over how much efficiency the compression would ad or something like that.

samnavy 01-24-2014 10:45 PM

How about the kid who started his own polishing business in his parents lawnmower shed, then screwed a couple guys out of the parts, THEN got visited by an MT.net member who not only got the parts back, but got gas money out of the kid?

How about REPO4SALE? Dude set the record for quickest simultaneous banning from every Miata forum on the net with his epic asshattery. Brain had to ban him from here twice.

What about the rear-mount turbo guy with the 6x9's mounted in plexiglass zip-tied to the rollbar?

I can't believe HYPER hasn't been mentioned in this thread.

Erat 01-24-2014 10:49 PM

FUN FACT:

he is RIGHT NOW selling a ton of parts on craigslist.

and completely agree'd with the other ones too

I'd really like to repost the last epic gay bathhouse story that Hustler posted. It got Rick in a pinch over Google advertising. It has been deleted but still exists behind the scenes. The noobs just didn't know what to think when they had that stuff thrown at them.

I don't know if the rules have changed since IB has taken over, but some of the stories were pretty awesome from a "wtf" standpoint.

mlev 01-26-2014 05:16 PM

The video of that kid with the miata fire made its way to our local car club forum a few months back... Every. Single. Action. that he takes has me going O_o.

First of all, why is he trying to turn the car over in the first place? And then there's a giant arcing spark and that doesn't make him think "Hmm, maybe I should check and see if everythings hooked up right? Nah, the camera's rolling, fuck it." Then it starts on fire. And he just keeps trying. Then he *blows on it*. O_O. And then he notices the big can of gasoline sitting on the windshield RIGHT NEXT to the fire... but then it starts on fire, and he runs through the flames to get out of the garage--not around the passenger side. Then he sprays it with a garden hose.

It honestly makes me physically anxious to watch. :-\

Mild fail but one of my favorite Hustler post's

Whole wheat dough, everything bagel toppings. I made the bread into garlic bread, with REAL garlic and REAL onions that I sauteed up in fresh butter. The day before, my boss was having a family party so he ordered REAL Italian gourmet meats from Italy, to do it right. He made all the platters ahead of time, but still had leftover meats that he said we could use for our own delight. Real prosciutto, real salami, real provolone cheese that was unprocessed and unpasteurized. Capicola ham, spiced ham. I made a spiced mayonnaise myself, in the store. Roma tomatoes. Romaine lettuce that I delved through to find the perfect pieces. Red onion. I stacked the meat so that it would be fluffy, folding each piece and making sure that it was in line with the bread-horizon. I used a perfectly sharpened bread knife to cut it on a slight diagonal across the hero-bagel-bread. I roasted some red peppers that we had over our grill, and used the true, raw olive oil that he had used for the party for antipasto trays. I used a few olives to make a small tapenade that went into the center of the bread, injected via turkey baster. After I cut it, I wrapped it up and put it into our walk-in refrigerator to marinate for about half an hour. I made a sandwich whose street value was easily over 150 dollars. I made two of these sandwiches. I gave one to my friend Kenny for his birthday. The other one I ate over the course of a day. I ate nothing else that day. I wept. Guys, I don't want this to sound like some bullshit story, but I fucking cried. I fucking cried over this sandwich, and I think about it every few weeks. This was almost four or five years ago.
