I bought a mechanical keyboard for 70 bucks from newegg. There is also a $20 mail-in rebate that Ill need to remember to send in.

Around 1.5k (which is a lot for my frugal ***)
Still have a few things I might pick up. I already picked up some new gym gear last week when Elite FTS had a blow out sale. Now I'm really looking for a new fight stick that's ps2/3/pc compatible and uses Sanwa hardware. As well as some deals on anime and robot models for my swag cave

I also have a Cannon (ELF). Does just fine for the kinds of pictures I take.
Back to the topic: Why are the ads always for expensive new cars/SUVs, diamonds and perfume? Where's the sales on practical gifts? If I bought my wife jewelry, she'd tell me I wasted our money.

Huh?
We actually bought a TON of these practical gifts you're talking about: lots of cookware, fancy mixer, nice dish set, blah blah blah along with a nice camcorder, printer/scanner/fax, etc. Then I bought a few things for the garage, like a nice 3 ton low pro jack, etc.
All the stuff for her we got at Sears, Macys, and Amazon mostly. 30-50% off on most items.
Pretty happy with the deals and the stuff actually.
And most importantly, she was happy enough to be totally cool with me ordering a new turbo setup for my miata
