bulding a locost. What does it really cost???
Just wondering. I'd love to have one but I really cant fab things up and would need pre-made parts. From estimates I've done it sounds like it would end up being more than a well used and setup miata.

I have a complete chassis in my garage (in tube form) and it is a project that I just don't see me ever taking on. Even with what I already have (a arms, bushings, panhard rod, floor pans, chassis, ect...) I figure to do it right it would cost me in the neighborhood of another 3K plus the cost a donor. Cost isn't so much my problem as it is the fact that I hate repairing things. I can tinker adding power, or braking , or handling for hours on end, but I hate fixing things when they break. I don't want to have to redesign a control arm, or screw with the placement of a steering rack. My miata works pretty freaking well plus if I am out in it and it starts raining I have a top, or heat, or ac if I need them. I love the idea of a locost, but I have basically decided I couldn't live with one.
About $9000 to get it track worthy with some costly mistakes. I have full records until that day. After that day it is maintenance and upgrades which are completely up to the person driving it.
This is before turbocharging.
