1995 BMW 325is E36 - $2000

The answer is always Miata, except when you want to do things like -

a. Merge easily onto highways
b. Carry more than a backpack
c. Not look like a hairdresser
4. Have sex in the parking lot of Target*

You know it, I know it - RWD is best wheel drive. German Engineering is best engineering. Stick shift is best shift. This thing is a ******* tank that prefers to be sideways. This thing is a Miata that coworkers won't laugh at. It's an S2000 but it has a back seat, more torque, those two sexy *** kidney grills and the god damn propeller badge on its nose sniffing its way through traffic both on track and across the Atlantic City Expressway on its way to win Texas Hold 'em and visit trashy strip clubs.

Wait, this thing has been on legendary tracks like Lime Rock Park, and Watkins Glen? ******-ay, yeah it has been. I already told you, it's a tank. It has 200k miles on the clock but it wants more. It needs it. It screams for more throttle. Getting me to and from work 100 miles a day isn't enough, it wants to do it at 95 mph. Pulling onto mainstreet after a pick me up of tacobell at midnight means pulling out *** sideways like this RWD hog is supposed to be slung, with its H&R Springs and Bilstein sport suspension holding steady. No, it won't crash into curbs** and go viral like Mustangs after Cars and Coffee Jay Leno-type bullshit meet and greets, because this thing came from the factory with independent rear suspension and better weight balance with the battery in the trunk.

Speaking of the IRS, did you see the asking price? For less than your tax return, you could have it all. Controlled countersteering. Automatic windows. A sun roof. General and specific awesomeness. No, this isn't a new-age yuppy's BMW with traction control, driven by some fucktard who doesn't know how to use blinkers and either needs to prove to his daddy that his law degree was worth it or prove to his drug buyers that he's a legit dealer. This car is

raw
wholesome
magical
TANK

Other perks - 1995 AKA OBDi AKA don't bother with inspection in NJ because it doesn't require it. It has A/C that blows ice cold so your girl doesn't complain in the passenger seat. It has a Borla performance exhaust so don't have to turn the stereo on. But feel free to turn that Amazon bought head unit on at full volume. It sounds fantastic. It comes with a second set of wheels so you can mount up some snows and cruise past big *** AWD trucks stuck in a snow bank because they don't understand that all seasons tires are garbage. It has a new alternator, new brake pads and rotors. A push button starter because I was bored a few months ago one Saturday morning. I rebuilt the VTEC (I mean uh, VANOS) recently.

The car was built in the 90s. You're god damn right it's got a chip.

This is E36. This is RWD.

*back seat is pretty tight for business time, road head is easier
**if you suck at driving, it certainly could put you into a curb. Don't suck.

908 -88 three - 111 two

Come pick up your drift rocket .

In the spring I'm going to ditch the BRZ and look at either getting an ND or a Focus RS. Yes, I realize these two cars are diametrically opposed to each other.

I miss having a convertible, but something that is fast with useable space seems like a good idea too.

Or I may go stupid and buy an E92 M3 with the DCT.
All of this.

HOWEVER... Having spent a fair amount of time driving around in new NC's, and currently owning an S2k.... The S2k is in a whole other league over the NC. But the NC is a very nice car. I'd never give $15k+ for one, but if you can find a clean one for $8-10k it's not a bad way to go by any means.

Joe's just grumpy because he still has a little M.net in him, and Emilio's just grumpy because he's Emilio.

Kinda sucks that NC's have zero carryover to other generation Miatae, though.

The one he is looking at is 4k. So its not like it is a hugely costly one. If I had some spare cash right now I might consider it myself just to use for mocking up the MKTurbo NC setup.

M.net is the only place where an NC belongs, in the subforum about faux-wood interior panels and chrome trim rings.

I've wanted this for 3 years ever since I saw it by the side of the road on my favorite coast route. The temptation is so real

My first thought when I saw the post was "Why do people keep doing this?"

4500 isn't that bad either for what it is and the mileage.

Seems like way too much money to me but I'm not plugged into the Forester market.

motor assuming it's good 2500
trans/diff 1500
everything else 1000ish

sounds about right to me. definitely not something I'd buy but an almost break even in parts. those turds hold their value shockingly well.

A 1991 with a blown motor just popped up near me. $1000 seems kind of high.

1991 Mazda Miata

"
The Miata you see here is a 1991 with a little over 200k miles. I bought this a few months back as my first Miata and didn't put more than 100 miles on it until the motor crapped out on me. I can tell you what exactly I think had happened, but to summarize it up, the motor started developing a tapping noise shortly after buying it. What I thought was the HLA tick ended up being a piston. Lots of hours on forums were spent on this car trying to fix it but I've done everything I could to make the noise go away, but now it won't start since piston #2 is hitting the head (possibly broken wrist pin?). So it will probably need a long block to be safe, I just don't have the time nor resources to do so. - $1000 by itself
The work that has been done on this Miata within the past 1000 miles are as follows:
-New NGK spark plugs
-New fuel pump relay
-New fuel filter
-Freshly painted powdercoated wheels
-New water pump
-New valve cover gasket
Other than the motor being toast for this Miata, it is in great condition in my opinion. Other than the scratch on the rear bumper there isn't any cosmetic blemishes on this car. No rust, no oxidized paint, no dents or dings etc. This would be a good potential 1.8L swap or LS swap!

I also have an OEM clutch master cylinder & slave cylinder for the 91 Miata because before it died, I'm pretty sure the slave cylinder was going bad.

I am willing to negotiate but will more than likely deny low ball offers. Also prefer text since I'm usually busy but you can call, I might answer! If not just leave a voicemail.
Thanks for looking! - Jon"

If it's not rusty with a ripped top it seems like a good deal.

Throw a motor in and for under $2k you've got a running Miata.

The top itself looks OEM to me, but the sunroof is not.

AP1530B5H - CRL-SFC 15" x 30" AutoPort Sunroof Universal Trim Ring - Solar High Performance Glass

Maybe it was a weird dealer option? Makes no sense to me.

I was lucky enough to see this car in person last year when the guy still owned it. Interior was very clean, leather seats hardly worn in. Has LED allthelights if I remember.

The VR paint was the hawtness. Says 'sold' on site, and for 2 bricks of gold it can (could of) be yours.

From what I remember.. it was only the A/O kit installed, not a built engine and soo the 300+ whp is out of the window. RC injectors included.
