Looks Like Sh*t! Sounds Like Sh*t! Drives Like... NOT Sh*t!
Look, this is the city. Cars get dinged up, bumped, scratched, and even pissed on sometimes*. That's just the way it is, and if you're not willing to admit that, it's time to take that shiny new Outback to its new home in Naperville.
I'm not a car-as-status-symbol kinda guy, and this car proves that. My father once told me that a car should be nothing more than a protective shell to get you from Point A to Point B. LET THIS CAR BE YOUR PROTECTIVE SHELL!
Sure, it's seen better days. We all have. BUT, if you want a reliable city driver to get to work, buy groceries, and to go to that bikram yoga studio that you'll never see again once the Groupon expires, this is the car for you.
Here's what it HAS:
Brand new timing belt, water pump, and 75 month warranty battery, all installed December 2016 after the timing belt snapped on I-90 during rush hour on a Wednesday morning (highly NOT recommended).
A/C works great, and the tires are in good shape as well.
I have all the recent repair records and will include them with this sale. The battery is under warranty for another three years, it just needs to be taken to my mechanic for replacement.
Here's what it NEEDS:
That sound you hear? The one that sounds like a Cessna flying down your street? That's this car. It needs a catalytic converter. That's why the check engine light is on. My mechanic warned me that it was going, and now it's gone. While you don't NEED a catalytic converter for the car to drive properly, it won't pass emissions without it (I'm told), and it's seriously embarrassingly loud to drive. Fixing it is also supposed to improve gas mileage.
If I hadn't gotten a new car I would've just fixed it and kept driving this car, because other than that it drives very well. There is also a slow power steering leak, but I haven't had an issue with it. I put power steering fluid in once every month or two and it's been fine.
Other issues:
Right blinker doesn't work. Left blinker has to be held down manually to work.
Front passenger seat belt doesn't work. Do your friends like adventure and risk of bodily harm? Offer them a ride.
And yes, the hood IS bungeed down, and YES, I did zip-tie and Gorilla Glue the front bumper back up after it fell down- so what?? How DARE you judge me.
In all honesty, both bumpers are a little.....well, bumped. They're not called avoiders.
BUY THIS CAR AND LET GO OF YOUR OBSESSION WITH APPEARANCE; FEEL THE FREEDOM OF NOT CARING WHEN AN EX KEYS YOUR CAR; SMIRK AT THE AUDI LESSEE NEXT TO YOU PAYING $500/MO FOR SOMETHING THEY DON'T EVEN OWN; DO YOU SMOKE? FLICK YOUR ASHES WITH THAT DEVIL-MAY-CARE ATTITUDE YOU SEE IN THE MOVIES.
Or just buy it and harvest it for parts; I don't give a ****.
*To my knowledge, this car has not been pissed on.

Problem is, only the SE model came with the yellow paint job. So it's either a castrated SE, or non-OEM paint.
... at least AFAIK.
Edit: And I am wrong.

1997 Bitchen miata for a bad *** only!!! - $500 (santa rosa) hide this posting
This Miata is for a bad *** because its a tough ****. Regular trips to the south bay getting 30+ mpg which is bad ***. Got a little tap in the rear and still strait and runs and drives, that is really bad ***. Pushed the rear in about an inch or 2 with a case of water in the trunk so that comes with the car. I know what your thinking. BADASS!! Made a squeaky noise and found out it needed a water pump. I got a big check from getting the tap ( Badass) so we got another car and parked this one. Its white with a black top. ooooooohh Cop colors!! Badass!!! If your not badass get a prius and don't be bitchen. BUT, if your like I was, you should buy it! Im not badass any more so My wife said its gotta go. 1800 badass cc's disc brakes and good tires on all 4 corners!! Do I need to say how badass that is???? I will miss being badass, but at least with 500 bucks and no less, I may be warm inside knowing I helped someone else become badass and carry on... 130000ish miles on the clock, and its still strong. interior is cloth, stereo, who needs that crap when your flyin around getting great mpg's, enough said. Love it, we did. p.s. for pics email me until I learn how to post them. I know!! not badass:(

In case you wanted to cringe today.
In case you wanted to cringe today.
2002 Mazda Miata with extras installed. I invested in the Typhoon custom intake that increases the horsepower of the engine. Also installed racing tires to increase the "grip" in order to handle the extra horse power. Another perk of the Typhoon intake is it has a washable filter so no future air filter costs required.
If you have ever driven the Miata you know why it was so widely acclaimed when it was introduced...it's all about the connection between the car and driver. The engineers at Mazda were able to capitalize on the low center of gravity that takes awhile to understand. The cars grip in the turns exceeds what you are accustomed to in ordinary cars and it takes a bit for the adrenalin to counteract the fear that you are going to leave the road. Amp that up as well with the top down and you have got yourself an uncontrollable urge for a road trip.
Another plus is for a sub compact sports car the Miata has a decent amout of trunk space and an area behind the seats for storage.
So if you are recently retired, or the kids have gone of to life, here is the chance to capture the dream you once had of owning a real sports car at an affordable price.
You will recognize this car when you see the attached photo. It's the one you see in traffic and say to your self, "who's the lucky gal/guy driving that car".....feeling lucky!
With all the added features and up grades i have completed i think you will agree 6K is a great investment in the Miata.
