No, VW already tried that 10 years ago and they completely failed to sell them here in Europe. The new Scirocco was never sold in America:

Sport button, but most of the time the trans in D. It just gets hung in stop and go, like pulling up to a stop sign, or out of parking lot, if you have to let off for a bit then it goes "Wait for it, wait for it, wait for it.....BANG all the power"

When I'm just driving back and forth to work, I don't like how high it revs at city speeds with trans in S mode as well. There is typically a 2-3 gear difference during steady state cruising.

These things already get crap gas mileage around town.

I just picked up a daily to replace my FZ09https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...25fe789e1f.jpgNearly stock, except for a Hurst shifter. The torque in unreal!

Compared to a Miata maybe. :dunno:

Not compared to, well, most anything else.

I mean, it's a 3200lb car that makes a good 300lbtq with bolt ons. She'll skoot in just about any gear.

turbofan 03-25-2018 01:08 PM

I thought you said it was stock?

86 Mustang 5.0 made the same torque output as a V6 Tacoma does today. And everybody regards to Tacomas as being absolute dragstrip terrors, don't they?

LittleCarBigFun 03-25-2018 01:11 PM

I said nearly, only a hurst shifter. But the Foxbody has something a tacoma doesn't. Two more cylinders and a better sound

I thought you were going to say flexibility

LittleCarBigFun 03-25-2018 01:52 PM

Eh, that too. But honestly I love car. Even if it gets shitty mpg. Plus it drifts pretty easily. Then again, anything will on Cooper Cobras

upgraded my DD/toy hauler. picked up this 2005 Nissan Titan the other week,4x4, loaded and only had 50k miles on it. its nothing special and too much chrome from the old man that traded it in but iim pretty happy with it

I sold my Nissan Leaf for $1000 more than I bought it for in January '17. I put 30k on that car and only bought tires and windshield washer fluid. Can't hardly beat that result! I had noticed EVs were going up in value and also our building got new owners and I was no longer allowed to charge at work so it made sense to sell.

I picked up a blue Honda Civic Si I've always liked. It's nearly stock except for a fart cannon and only has 84k miles. The paint is a little rough but that's ok for a daily. Already set to pick up a standard muffler and some other parts later today.

I'm still daily driving the GTX. I have just over 3k miles on it since it's been in my possession. It's been great to me thus far. Had to do a few things, pads, brake bleed, clutch slave, shifter bushings, motor mounts, fabbed up an intake, installed a Bluetooth stereo and analog boost gauge. Also did quality fluids throughout the drivetrain (redline cocktail), and some other small things. It is super fun to drive, starts every time even in single digit temps. Drives very nicely, straight and smooth. Note that I live in a rural high elevation environment. I would never recommend this car for city driving (due to safety) or highway commutes (due to safety and gearing), but it's perfect for me right now. Always wanted one, and a steal came around that I couldn't pass up, so here I am. I've read all there is to know about these things, so I'm aware of the short comings of ownership. So far I have ~3k miles on it and it's been worth every cent. I'm hoping to DD it up to about 200k miles (at 140k now), then when something gives swap in a JDM BPT +trans, which is a bit stronger.

Also worthy of note, a almost completely stock 1988 323 gtx is every bit as fast as a 2017 BRZ with intake and exhaust. :giggle:

I always assumed the gtx was quick...

Picked this up in Feb. '04 Prerunner. Had my heart set on a Tacoma, used prices are so crazy I was just about to buy new, then I found this gem. Love it.. 3.4, E-Locker - the stuff that matters. I did the Tundra front brake swap, now I need to do shocks and tires. Not. Gonna. Lift.

I recently sold my FXT and picked up my first new car ever, a 2018 VW GSW 4mo 6mt for my new daily ride:

New to me as of yesterday at 5:30pm.

A few guys on the SS forums already recognized me, which is awesome.

Got a good deal, 16k miles, absolutely cherry. Except the rear tires are gone, but I mean, I think we all understand why.

Love the SS. Great daily.

Right now I'm eyeing up the new 2019 Mazda 3 with the new HCCI engine. More info should be out later this year (november-ish).

I'm also extremely tempted by a used 135i though. They're a LOT of car for the money.

The 135i is a good buy, can easily spot if they were ever JB4 or not as well, would err towards the N55 over the N45 and if your near the ~70K mark be ready for a water pump/thermostat (driveway job). I used mine as a daily for a few years, great power, solid MPG. Good luck sticking more than a 245 series up front though...
