Sitting on the side of the road waiting for a ride to come pick me up so that I could get home and get in my Miata, 2 more cars stopped and asked if I needed any help. People in the south to seem to be much more helpful in times of need like that.
The only good thing about the South... though in return you have to deal with a little more ignorance and stupidity.

Have you googled 2003 taurus stalls in traffic? There's all kinds of posts out there. I'd dump that POS and get something else. Life is too short to drive a ******* ford tortoise.

I'm on the taurusclub forum as we speak looking for a solution. Most forums are not like MT though and its quite a challenge to find an actual answer to the problem.

So far people have suggested the fuel filter, CAS, PCM relay, bad starter, bad alternator, vacuum leak, etc etc. I was hoping to find a few people that have the same exact problem with some type of solution to the problem.

I got the car on the road (purchase price, tax, reg) for under $2k, so its not exactly my prized possession. I needed something other than the miata to get me around and at the time it was the best thing I could find in the price range I was working with.

Now I'm thinking about getting a used LGT. I just worry cause working for myself and not knowing the certainty of my week to week income has me hesitant to put another bill on the table. At the very least I need to get the Ford back on the road until I figure out what to do.

I guess what I would do would be to start replacing the cheap stuff and work my way up. You could probably replace a lot of stuff yourself for cheaper than taking it somewhere and having them tell you nothing is wrong and still charging you a diagnostic fee.

One of the guys on the taurus forum is suggesting the fuel pump is bad. I don't know how much of a pain in the *** it is to do a fuel pump on one, but I think it requires dropping the tank.

I'll do whatever work that has to be done, I'd just rather fix what needs fixed rather than throwing parts at the car.

i guessed something along these lines. you said it likes to stall when your coasting to a stop which means the fuel would be going to the front of the gas tank and maybe that is why the car stalls? does it do this when you have above half a tank or below? could this cause air to get into lines and run dry until he cranks it enough?

If its like most cars I've dealt with, the fuel pump will run for a second or two when you turn the key On. Next time it stalls, listen for the fuel pump.
