An '18 STi came for a tune the other day. The neon yellow calipers are just so silly

But I have to say, the subtle cluster/center console updates are definitely very nice and I much prefer over 15-17.

Yeah, I liked the one I drove. But having just driven the SS 1LE 30 minutes prior, it just felt dog slow with super, super tight ratios. They were offering it at a pretty aggressive price (it was the higher trim level) since they had it PDR'd to remove some hail dents.

Side note: How did they tune go? What kind of power did it pick up? 91 or E85?

It was uneventful, as any stock/minor bolt on tune usually is. He is installing bolt ons + e85 setup very soon though so we'll see how that goes. I just did a 16 with same setup + FF and it was 340/380 on a conservative tune.

I drove a stock 2017 STI the other day and was surprised at how slow that 300 HP feels.

Still driving on your tune.

Exclamation

Ok boys and girls,
Here it is. The one you've been waiting for. The one your partner fantasizes about when they're with you. The one that ruined all others, the one that.........
Ok but seriously though, here's the pre-CL draft copypasta:

**PLEASE READ ENTIRE AD IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS CAR**
Silly redundant questions, offers, or comments without seeing the car in person, or insulting lowballs will be ignored. If you do not know or understand what makes this car so special, and think it’s only worth its Kelley blue book estimate, then just move on: this is most definitely not for you. My “no nonsense, get everything as is with all the extra parts” price is: $28k picked up in Sacramento CA or Rancho Cordova CA. If you have close to that amount but want to get the car without some of the parts, we can discuss and adjust accordingly. If you don’t, then get a job, work hard, and save your pennies and maybe someday you’ll find another gem like this that you can actually afford.

This car is an absolute gem, built to the highest standards using top of the line parts, and tuned to flawless perfection. This is NOT a “project car”. It requires nothing. It is completely and utterly READY TO GO. There are absolutely no secrets or hidden faults. I have literally documented my ENTIRE ownership of this car, with a thick folder full of receipts, and over 250 pictures illustrating the maintenance, build, checkups, testing, tuning, etc…

Specs:
-2008 Subaru Impreza wrx STi hatchback (last generation of the hatchbacks)
-CLEAN TITLE / Clean Carfax (can provide upon request)
-JUST PASSED SMOG (legally), AND REGISTRATION RENEWED ALL THE WAY THROUGH 2019
-Complete service/maintenance/history records (dating all the way back to brand new)
-80k original miles on car (very low mileage for this year) only 3k miles on built engine and most parts
-Aspen white exterior (last generation of this beautiful crisp white color)
-Black leather with gray suede interior (extremely clean) with OEM Subaru all-weather mats and trunk mat
-Tinted windows
-2011 OEM front end conversion (using OEM bumper and paint from Subaru, brand new grille, brand new headlights, brand new fender liners, brand new lower valance/lip, using brand new clips and fasteners on everything). I also still have the original headlights, bumper, grille, etc. for the new owner (and they are still in good condition, I just like the much better looking 2011 style)
-2016 STi OEM full suspension, with RaceCompEngineering “black” springs, all new bushings throughout.
-18” lightweight Enkei wheels with brand new 255/40/18 tires all around
-New brake pads and resurfaced rotors -Refreshed/new condition steering rack with fresh hoses/lines and new fluid
-Brand new OEM Subaru radiator with brand new OEM Subaru super-coolant
-FORGED/BUILT 2.5L ENGINE (fresh OEM Subaru engine professionally machined by M45 automotive, wiseco pistons, manley rods, arp studs, upgraded oil pick up tube, brand new crank, fully refreshed/surfaced/new valve seats heads, all new gaskets/seals/o-rings, brand new Timing Belt, water pump, engine mounts, EVERY..SINGLE..THING that was worn has been replaced, and is fresh and built, runs flawlessly in all weathers/situations with absolutely zero issues and needs nothing)
-Blouch Dominator 1.5 XT-R ball bearing turbocharger (also have brand new OEM turbo)
-ETS huge top mount intercooler (also have fresh OEM intercooler)
-OEM Subaru new turbo inlet
-AEM cold air intake with CARB EO sticker (smog legal) (also have OEM intake)
-Cobb 3 port boost solenoid (also have OEM boost solenoid)
-Cobb catted high-flow downpipe (also have OEM Subaru downpipe)
-Cobb Flex Fuel system with fuel pressure sensor option
-Cobb fuel pressure regulator kit (also have OEM regulator system)
-Cobb AccessPort wired through dash, and with dashboard mount
-Injector Dynamics ID1050x injectors (also have OEM fresh injectors)
-AEM 320lph fuel pump (also have OEM fresh pump)
-Brand new primary oxygen sensor, every single gasket is new, exhaust gaskets, intake/exhaust manifold gaskets, seals, o-rings, everything.
-6 Speed OEM TRANSMISSION with DCCD and Brand New Exedy OEM clutch and flywheel, all new fluids, all new bushings and seals, 2016 STi shifter, everything works and shifts smooth and flawless in all conditions with zero issues. Brand new OEM rear limited slip diff fluid. All axles and shafts in perfect condition, no rips tears or damage.
-This car makes 350 WHEEL horsepower/torque on 91oct (very conservative and safe, on a low reading dyno), and 400 WHEEL horsepower/torque on e85 (also very conservative and safe, on a low reading dyno). It also switches boost and power levels with the SI-Drive **** on the center console, from 15psi (300whp) in mode I, 17psi (350whp) in mode S, and 22psi (400whp/400wtq) in mode S#. It drives AMAZING. I have spent insane amounts of time, energy, and my expertise perfecting every single aspect of the calibration/tune. It self-adjusts between any blend of 91 and e85 smoothly and seamlessly, so there is literally nothing you need to do, just enjoy this amazing car every single day.

Details:I bought this car in very early 2017, this is my 10th Subaru in the past 11 years. This one is extra special because it’s the last generation of the hatchback, and last generation of the beautiful aspen white color. At 50k miles this car received a fresh block, turbo, steering rack, and many other things from the Subaru dealership under factory warranty. As soon as I bought it, I cleaned every square millimeter of this car including the entire interior (removed and shampood the carpet, seats, washed the underside, engine bay, everything). I did every single piece of maintenance that was both required and not required, with receipts form Maita Subaru for all brand new OEM parts. I have a thick folder full of receipts, I have added up tkhe cost and it surpasses $30,000. That is not a type-o or exaggeration, as I can demonstrate to interested parties. Once I started modifying the car, I decided to build the engine to hold the 400 wheel horsepower that it’s making. I had M45 Automotive (very well-known shop in the Subaru community) machine the fresh block, and added all of the above-listed upgraded components. I documented the whole build process, taking dozens and dozens of pictures along the way. Every single bolt was triple-checked, I have analyzed the oil samples from the freshly built engine (and they are perfect), I have done routine compression tests before the build, and after the build, it has all synthetic and/or oe approved fluids and oils, absolutely nothing was overlooked. There’s just so much that was done and so much care put into this car, that I’m likely forgetting some things here and there. This car/setup can make a lot more power, but I simply don’t see any need for it at all. It is discreet, quiet, runs smooth and flawless, needs nothing, and just a perfect Subaru all around. I have a TON of pictures that I’ll be adding soon. Thanks for your time.
I will post a metric ton of pictures once I'm on a real computer

So my bugeye has been making some strange sounds when backing up. Thought it was the normal rear disc contacting the heat shield. My shield is getting fairly rusty and occassionally makes contact.

Turns out the shield/backing plate is disintegrating at the bottom. The tabs the parking brake pads rest on have lifted slightly. This has moved the bottom pad spring out and is touching the back side of the hub (abs teeth). Good news, I dont have to buy the whole knuckle. Bad news, they are over a hundred a piece for OEM. Not sure I wanna go the dorman route.

You should probably detail it before you take the sale ad pics, but nice car.

The funny thing is: this car legitimately isn't even detailed, it's just that clean.
I was pondering getting a fresh polish/wax/seal but I'm 100% sure most buyers out there are interested in the bottom line price and would much rather pay $250 less (which is what my pro detailer buddy charges me to do all of that)
