it does look pretty neat, and has a very nice looking interior. I'm not ready to give up manual gearboxes yet, or drive a car that basically can't be modded. I'll probably be in the same situation as you in about 5 more years. 4matic = awd. it's 45:55 power clutch diff can send up to 70% power. the WRX is 50:50 power viscous diff can send 80% power. it's all about my drive. When i first bought the wrx my commute was like 15min, 30 tops. |

I will probably need to replace the OBXT sooner rather than later. Been trying to figure out what to get. Must easily support 2+ toddlers.

For what it's worth, my buddy has had nothing but problems with his Flex.
This is a guy that takes care and builds all his own crazy projects. Apparently on the forums there are quite a lot of well known issues. |
It's interesting to ponder about other cars and what I'd replace the subaru with.
At first glance, the choices are endless. There are so many different cars, many of them really sexy and some of them really fast. But being frugal, and wanting a relatively comfy, practical, fun, and FAST car, it's way more difficult than it seems. The choices slim down so fast when you set rules like "under 30k", and "decent gas mileage", and "decent reliability", and practicality, and mod friendly, and "reasonable to maintain", and "doesn't drop in value like a rock". You go from 100+ cars worth considering to like 5. So far my 13 hatch checks most of those boxes more or less. I'm not ready for an auto, I just don't feel that old yet, and luckily don't drive in traffic too often. |

is300 is sexy. interior is quite nice, and car is reliable.
But OH MY are they boring. Like, not even a little bit more fun than a camry. powerband and power delivery is so bland it almost doesn't even matter if you get a stick or an auto I've been eyeing newer IS350's. More comfy and more powerful. Haven't driven one yet (magazine reviews are not promising though, most say they're still really boring and unrewarding to drive quick) |
the is300 is small potatoes. shouldnt ever be spoken of today. youre talking about a slow 15 year old toyota that doesnt get any better gas mileage than a v8 today.
my favorite part of the MB so far: when i go over speed bumps, the rear end doesnt launch and flip the car over and make loud clunks/squeaks on reentry. |

AWD, Wagon (not hatch, full wagon), Manual transmission, enough HP to easily pass somebody. If I remove the manual requirement, that gets me a few options, but they're mostly very expensive.

:bowrofl: i had to go over a speed bump at the dealer and i was impressed at how id be able to sip a latte while driving over it. the wrx does not like speed bumps, at least in the rear, the fronts soak it in well, the rear needs help--I've launched a few grocery bags going into my neighborhood. the freaking car has weight sensing seats to balance the suspension. if it senses rain it will randomly apply brakes to clean them off so they stay dry. if it senses you lift suddenly when accelerating heavily, it will set the pads closer to the rotor for quicker response. you can actually disable the hill assist. better yet, you have to enable it. so many things to fail!!!! :P |
