what's that one for? the brake line?

Reconstructive plastic surgery airbag, passenger side only. Apparently they will contact me again once they have sufficient stock to make the repair but for now they recommend no passengers in the car.

18psi 08-10-2015 12:09 PM

wait

wut?

recall on the pass airbag on an 04 wrx?

EO2K 08-10-2015 12:15 PM

Yep! According to the notice it covers 04 and 05 WRX passenger side only. Its part of that giant airbag recall fuckery that's going on right know. I can take a shot of the actual notice as soon as I get home.

18psi 08-10-2015 12:20 PM

Meh no need. So how is it that they say the airbag is dangerous after like 11 years and hundreds of thousands of miles? I have no idea what they're doing

The same way fireworks are still dangerous after a decade?

EO2K 08-11-2015 06:38 PM

I think it has more to do with poor manufacturing process that has allowed the device to absorb moisture over time and thus not perform as intended. If I'm understanding what I'm reading anyway.

I already called the dealer and they won't give me the old airbag, they claim it has to be disposed of "properly" :(

18psi 08-11-2015 06:49 PM

yep, properly

18psi 08-12-2015 12:53 PM

So I'm hitting the drag strip again today, and hoping to hit 11's finally. Really hoping I don't break anything. If I hit an 11, I'm done with power modifications, because I highly doubt this stock long block and stock transmission can handle any more power or torque, and the car is more than fast enough for a daily driver.

I'll start doing girly stuff like sound deadening and polishing/buffing/waxing :giggle:

so youre going to buy a mercedes like me?

18psi 08-12-2015 01:54 PM

eww no way.
I like cars that don't depreciate 80% in value over 5 years with maint costs appreciating 80%

I will admit being sorta tempted to pick up a 335i or 135i though, maybe I will someday if I find a killer deal.

And mostly cause the ISF only comes auto, otherwise that would be my next car.

you sell stage kits, right? 11sec stage kit?

So BMW's are all the rage where I work. Typical car for middle management is a low mile off lease of course. As an example, milling programmer got a 335i in the mid 30's, stickered for mid 50's, with ~8000 miles on it, certified preowned blabla which in BMW world means all maintainence is paid for, all oil changes and wiper blades shit, for 7 years and 100k miles.

Now that starts to make sense.

Braineack 08-13-2015 09:02 AM

I drove a 335i. felt really slow compared to my WRX.

and really not any more comfortable, and the auto trans was not great.

EO2K 08-13-2015 11:34 AM

I've driven a smattering of BMWs in the last decade but none I actually wanted to own. The most ridiculous of which was the E60 M5 that belonged to my old boss. I mean, if someone gave me that car I'd take it but its not something I'd seek out. A 500bhp V10 is a little nutty as a DD, but then that pretty much describes him anyway so I guess it fits.

I do have a soft spot for the 2002 and was super sad when FRT_Fun gave up on his

but were you shocked?

18psi 08-13-2015 01:03 PM

Sure, I'll make stage kits. Throw cash at me ;)

The e60 M5 and 335i both couldn't fathom how a wrx could possibly embarrass both of them that badly, I think both of them still wonder to this day what happened :giggle:

Timmah, I pretty much agree: for a killer deal and uder warranty I'd probably rock those cars too. But, I mean, my friend that recently had one got a deal on his, AND it was under warranty, AND he only owned it for like a year, and he still lost money on it when he sold it. Like a good 2 grand. This is what keeps me away from those cars mostly.

G, you should get one and come race my wrx :D
But really, the car looks awesome and sounds awesome and I can only imagine how nice it is inside. But they still fetch a serious premium and I'm not old enough to be okay owning one yet.

When he popped the hood dat v10 looked absolutely glorious. And as you can hear in the vid, it sounds gloriousl.
