'You might want to pull it back,' Walter suggested. It was then that I noticed I still had the throttles full forward. The plane was flying a mile every 1.6 seconds, well above our Mach 3.2 limit. It was the fastest we would ever fly. I pulled the throttles to idle just south of Sicily , but we still overran the refueling tanker awaiting us over Gibraltar.

And its pretty funny that they estimate 4000 SAMs fired with not one hit. Thats enough to bankrupt half the Bannana Republics that have come and gone.

Edit:

America **** YEAH!!!

Very nice find! Aviation has always interested me, and I consider becoming a commercial/military pilot when I graduate, but I'm blind as a bat so I can scratch that one off

My wife's co-worker was over today, helping remodel our basement. He worked w/ the SR71 and recommended a couple good reads. Really neat guy.

He was telling a couple of us that he's sat in the cockpit.
