Shame we don't have those here. The current Focus is a shitbox compared the legitimately new Euro Focus.

No. We don't even get that body style, let alone the performance RS version. Ours is a crap box sedan for people that can't afford a Hyundai Sonata.

Vauxhal, Seat, Peugeot, Fiat, Renault, Opel, Skoda, Citroen, and many others you see daily are not available here. Many of the Ford, GM, and asian manufacturers models you have we don't get either. If smart wasn't sold here we would have no micro cars available at all. The US car buyer has the worst selection of cars to choose from of any first world nation.

 

For all the complaining I do about this country, we do have a great selection of cars. Almost every small hatch has a performance variant available at the moment. Apparently Britain is the largest market in the world for hot hatches and bizarly enough the 2nd largest world market for buying convertibles (considering the pathetic excuse we have for summer).

Just out of interest, do you ever see any British cars? Like TVR, Lotus, Bentley, Aston Martin, Noble, Caterham, Marcos, Bristol etc?

 

Yeah because they see America as a bunch of fat, lazy sheep who don't care about good car. They know most Americans are suckers and will buy sh!tboxes over and over and over. America is a country of "bigger is always better" no matter what. I bet if you made tractor rigs available with a full cab (no 5th wheel) and called it the GM Intergalactical...you'd see dumbsh!t soccer moms driving them...just because it's bigger than her neighbors Excusion. They also think we don't care for compact cars with small diesel engines that get 50+mpg. We are also NOT taxed based on the engine displacement, so little care goes into developing small, efficent yet powerful engines.

I'm glad the UA automakers are sinking...especially GM and Chrylser...they deserve it. Although the downside is the hard-working people that actually make the parts and make the cars and are NOT responsable for the crappy design and decision to use sub-par quality parts. But, maybe with the companies boarding the Failboat, those same hard working people will help take a stand to turn the image and quality of "American" cars around.

Ford on the otherhand, needs to hurry up and bring us more cool stuff. They've always had a good diverse world market which put them in the position to not need pitty-money from the US government...thank God. Personally, I think the new Fusion Hybrid is a pretty good looking car...and would drive one.

 

There are just a couple of ancient TVRs over here, but nothing recent. Lotus Elise is doing pretty well around here. Aston's are a rare but welcome sight. I've only seen a Noble at a motorshow. Caterham, no, but other Seven replicas, yes. Marcos, no. Bristol, no.

Plenty of MGs, but only pre-1981. No Rovers. Old Austin Healeys and Truimphs are around. Sunbeams can be found. I saw a Jensen Interceptor the other day. I'm selling some Jensen Healey parts on ebay right now.
Original Minis are rare. Morgans are very rare.

We do have Land Rovers and Jaguars in great numbers. What am I forgetting?

 

Current UK cars we have dealerships for are Jags, Astons, Bently, Rolls, Range Rovers and Lotus. Noble, TVR, Caterham, etc. are typically sold here in "kit" form needing the engine installed to get around US customs and automobile standards or track only like the ariel. Extremely rare here. None of the French cars come in and the only Italians are the exotics ferrari, lamborgini and maserati. There are many asian brands not coming here either. We only get Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Suzuki, Kia and Hyundai. (Infiniti, Acura & Lexus I consider under the parent companies previously mentioned. We do get some models under those brands that you don't in the UK though! Yeah for us!)

IIRC, they are a mere $110K. That will REAALLY get the Hummer owner's panties in a bunch. "What, you only paid $60K for your Hummer? Might as well call it a Slummer, cheap POS."

 

kinda...now take that "bed" off and make it a full cab...and it has to be tandem-axle. I've seen those before...too..but I was thinking even bigger.

 

You see an english car every 3-4 cars in South Florida. Rolls, Bentley, Jaguar, Astons, and Lotus's are very common. There is a place up where I go to school in North Florida that races Nobles as well.

Big issue with a lot of the english cars is that Lucas Electronics put a bad taste in everyones mouth last time they came here.
