Google Voice
I watched the little video, can't figure out what the real advantage is. I don't have a home phone, the wife and I use our mobile phones as our main phone. Is there one in my situation? This can't replace my carrier, can it? (I wouldn't think so, but it's worth asking)

sorry, i asked on facebook and had good results. got it from a google employee of course.
i've been using it off and on with my android phone. the integration is amazing. you can set it up to work seamlessly as your phone's real number or decide for each call and text message. i forward all my calls to it for the voicemail features--transcription and the ability to play back from the phone or computer.
Best part is free calling to canada.

I signed up for google voice a year or so ago, but I haven't really used it since I got my iPhone. I don't really see much benefit besides being able to send texts for free or something. The voicemail transcription would be cool, but in my experience it wasn't very accurate.

Ok, now I want it. I dig visual voice mail, but don't want to pay for it. Someone send me an invite since I don't facebook.
