Default Honeymoon, Florida, need ideas.

We are getting married "May 9th" if things go like they are supposed to and will be taking a small honeymoon thereafter too.

After a little compromising we came up with driving to Florida. We still need to decide on whose car to take:
05 Scion XB (she can't drive stick)
04 Nissan Altima(is having problems though).

Next is the itinerary. We will be leaving podunk Texas and catching onto I-10 and hooking into New Orleans for a night. So far we have

Day 1- Drive to New Orleans and spend day there
Day 2- Drive to Port Orange to visit her dying Grandmother for dinner
Day 3-5????????????????????????????????????????????????? ??????????
Day 6- Drive back

The 3-5 is what we are still trying to figure out. We will be staying at nothing but Holiday Inn's since I get even the most expensive ones for only 30 bucks (employee perks).

I really don't want to travel all over Florida since that is what we are doing to get there. Any ideas of great travel spots or things to see without it being too much? Keep in mind....BABY will be in tow.

I was thinking maybe St. Augistine? Or New Smyrna looked nice.

St. Augustine is nice, you can walk around the shops (she'll like that).

The baby is too new to enjoy Disney and rollercoasters are a bad idea when one person has to stay back and watch the baby, but Sea World (in Tampa) is a possibility. Just make sure the baby doesn't get sunburned.

St. Augustine is kinda cool, I guess.
IMO theres really not much to do in the northern part of the state, unless you like cave diving, haha.

Well, I'll think we will pretty much want to just chill and go to all those "little" shops anyways. I just wasn't sure if there were any really cool sites to see...kind of like Galveston has Moody Gardens and San Antonio has the Alamo...so St. Augustine has...shops lol.

You could just come chill in Jesusville, out at the beach.
Weather just got really nice, lots of bars and whatnot.
And you can go out to san marco, five points, etc.

If only St. Augustine had an old fort to visit.

^Bingo. I saw that when I was little and it is pretty cool. The thing is made from ground sea shells and its amazing how durable the matirial is.

Also, IIRC there is this little restaurant downtown called Athenas that had the best Baklava ever.

Nice beach too. Personally I am happy as can be just chilling and listening to the surf come in with a climate like that.

Other ideas include thong and pics

Seriously though, congradulations!

So not to bring this back up, but after some more deliberating and thinking about it...I was thinking about South Padre instead and trying to leave the baby with my mom while we are gone. The whole 17 hour drive one way thing isn't sounding very nice...so I'm going to talk with her tonight about alternatives. Plus, the more I think about it, visiting her Grandparents isn't sound very ideal either.

Or go near the whales....

Haven't spent much time in FL myself, but I've been to Tampa, Orlando, and Ft. Myers and wouldn't mind spending 3-4 days in any of those places this time of year for sure.

Yeah, that's a long friggin way to drive for a beach. To visit old relatives maybe, but there are plenty of nice beaches that are much closer. Don't spend your whole honeymoon driving.
