I'm still tempted to pick up a Mitsubishi DLP set before they go away completely.
Have you seen the newer high-end Mitsu sets that use three lasers instead of a lamp and a color wheel? I've yet to see one in person, but I expect they'd deliver stunning color saturation.

Mitsu still makes the super-size conventional (lamp-and-wheel) sets. Their largest is a mind-boggling 82" which, if I'm honest, is probably a tad bigger than I would need.

Nonsense. Need and want aren't the same thing. I thought my 56'' was GIGANTIC! when I first bought it home, but after a few months I got used to it and wished for something larger. I would never be able to live with anything under 50'' again. 82'' is ridiculous, but I could manage to accept it... Only 2.25' bigger diagonally than my current 55''.
