Anyone for an electric Miata?

 

 

I don't know if it's the engine, cooling system, or both, but I have been driving my BMW 2002 in 105 degree heat the past few days without a radiator fan. It never even gets above half way on the temp gauge.

Confirmed the gauge is accurate, this engine just runs cool. Probably helps I just refreshed the entire cooling system, and swapped in a badass aluminum radiator.

 

idk why everyone else is having so much trouble with the game, but other than it not using my GPUs to the full extent, im addicted to Watch Dogs on PC.

It has always disturbed me that, on 3 speed fans, "off" is almost universally located next to "high" rather than next to "low."

 

Same here. And for related reasons, when I want to turn the fan to "low," I tend to turn the **** as quickly as I can past the "high" and "medium" settings (and the same when turning it off).

 

Because I want maximum fan output in the shortest amount of time. People who need only mild fan output have time to turn past the extra settings.

 

Ceiling fans the same. Pull once it is on high. Next pull medium. Next pull low; and last pull off.

 

By this logic, full throttle should occur as soon as you begin to depress the pedal, with the throttle then progressively closing as you increase pressure on the pedal.

It's indicative of a collectively diseased thought process.

 

The only advantage I have ever imagined to the logic of having OFF next to HIGH on a fan is the ability to more easily detect a more marked speed transition when turning it off as opposed to merely slowing down. This is especially useful on my ceiling fan where, if transitioning from HIGH through MEDIUM to the LOW position, the motor slows discernibly for a moment and then becomes virtually silent, with blades spinning at near-off speed, to the point the uninformed would assume a complete stop is imminent. Granted, it's subtle, but having OFF next to HIGH allows for a very clear cut ON or OFF detection, with any muddling transition in between.




For some odd reason this made me think of the old detection method for King snake vs. Coral snake:

"Red on yellow, kill a fellow"
"Red on black, friend of Jack"

 

There's relatively no risk in turning a fan on "high". Flooring a zo6 in stop-and-go traffic will not have such low risks.

 

Went out to my friends lake house for the weekend.. my back is tomato red. That is all.

And incredibly cheap parts. There must be some significant cost savings to this sort of layout for it to be so universal. I have a fan that's quite good overall, but has this bassackwards setup. It also has large dead spots, sort of like you get with a potentiometer. Its hard to deal with when drunk.

Related: Has anyone else noticed that there are zero sub 50 dollar coffee pots that actually pour well? They all have the most retarded form>function spouts that dribble coffee all over the place. Then it burns on the little heater pad and cakes onto the bottom of the pot. This leads to endless 30 second cleanings of the heat thingy and the general area.

 

I have found that the only ones that don't pour correctly are German brands.

I have a closer to 200 dollar coffee maker that is supremely awesome except that the original design dribbled coffee all over the counter when you poured it. Complaints were met with "this carafe has been used on a popular brand (MR Coffee) for hundreds of thousands of units and should not be a problem."

Ha ha, mine leaks.

Enough bitching and over a year later, the company redesigned the pour spout and sent it to all their customers under warranty (upon request of course).

I bet you don't get that for <$50.
