You have not experienced Shakespeare until you have read him in the original Klingon.

"We need breathing room!"

Sigh, I wish they would get Nick Meyer to do the new star trek movies. I almost walked out of into darkness...

"Earth, Hitler, 1938."

I haven't seen Into Darkness yet, principally because I'm afraid it will suck.

While I despise JJ Abrams as a horrible hack writer, the rebooted Star Trek movies were entertaining enough to satisfy. Just pretend you aren't a hardcore trekkie/er when you watch and everything will be fine. Incidentally, Cumberbatch is no Montalban. Not enough chesty.

Speaking of romance, ahem.

One of the SoCal guys on MiataForumz posted a request for help from Miata owners in the area:

One of our club members is going to pop the question to his lady by having at least 35 Miata's park in the shape of "marry me" in a parking lot. He operates an aerial photo company using small drones with live cameras mounted to it so the picture shows up on a ground monitor. His lady will think they are just out on a "shoot" but will actually see his proposal via the monitor. So far we have 26 Miata's set for this clever proposal but a few more would make it even better. Anyone in Southern California with a Miata can join our group this coming Sunday, June 8, at the parking lot of Temescal Canyon High School, 28755 El Toro Road, Lake Elsinore, CA. 10:30 AM sharp. After this is complete there will be a ride over the Ortega Hwy. and up to "Johnny Rebs Southern Roadhouse" in the City of Orange, CA for a late lunch/early dinner. Please contact me IF you are interested. (949) 701-6866 cell
Let your SoCal Miata buds know.

Ironically, when you go back and watch the original Space Seed episode of the old series, Khan is kind of a *****. As in "Kirk, you have beaten me at a fair fist-fight, so my crew and I cheerfully agree to be exiled on this remote planet without any further attempts at escape or deception."

Ha ha, mine leaks.

Enough bitching and over a year later, the company redesigned the pour spout and sent it to all their customers under warranty (upon request of course).

I bet you don't get that for <$50.
Nope, we do not get that for our under $50 POS Then again, it was donated, so it's hard to argue with free. It'll be a lot of machine washing towels and using paper towels before this becomes a bad deal for us.

Been pondering using some epoxy to modify the spout. Not sure what cheap, available, inert, and high-temp tolerant polymer I could mold though. I wonder if I could simply mold the opening a bit using epoxy alone. Or maybe I need to find a 3D printer.

Also considering filing down the very tip of the spout to create a more abrupt ending rather than the nice rounded edge it has now. The idea being to create turbulence that breaks the adhesion/surface tension/whatever between the coffee and the surface. So more '65 Daytona and less Cobra.

Typically, when I most need coffee is precisely when I have the least patience for bothering with the (relative) hassles of getting wake up juice in my cup. Certainly, I can't be the only one who uses the easy button.

I have that easy button. It works well for when I'm out the door and don't want to wait around. For those times when I want a good cup of coffee, I have one of these:

Though not technically food safe, it's probably fine (it's silicone):

It isn't.

It's an Italian design known as a Moka pot, also used to make Cuban-style espresso. The water starts at the bottom, passes up through a container of grounds in the middle, and comes to rest in the upper chamber.

Once the coffee enters the upper chamber, it stays there. There is no recirculation as in a percolator.

I have one of these which my grandmother gave to me, it's probably 50 years old. I've never tried using it to make American-style coffee, but it's hand-down the best way to make espresso at home.

I <3 moka pot. I used to get laughed at for hauling one around while backpacking, then I quietly smirked at them with my pinky up while they drank instant coffee.
