That having been said, there's nothing quite like the feeling of having proper borosilicate glass labware in the kitchen for your everyday measuring and mixing needs.





Seriously, it's a huge improvement over the old polypropylene stuff. Kind of like a good Chef's Knife (thanks again for the recommendation, @mgeoffriau), it's not going to revolutionize the way you work, but it'll definitely make the whole experience more pleasurable and gratifying.

Now I remember: that was the lime-slicing knife.

We kept it on the bar cart at the margarita station in garage 9E, on a piece of scrap polytetrafluoroethylene sheet that I had left over from machining an assembly fixture for work. Surplus industrial waste, in some cases, makes a good cutting board. It must have come from Cap'n Vern, as he was the one who originally assembled the first bar cart, and the contents of same, apart from the blenders, which I purchased in bulk and installed as they wore out, transferred to all subsequent bar cart upgrades. When the Carlsbad Mens' Varsity Drinking Team (Mirabellea Bar Association chapter) finally disbanded after 7 very tipsy years, I must have come into possession of it.

I still have that knife. In memorium (RIP, Cap'n), I shall have to purchase a lime.

And slice it.

Having watched a few Russian traffic videos on youtube, I am beginning to believe driver's ed program over there consists of a bootleg copy of some driving game and a few shots of vodka.
Then they just grab the keys and go crash.

There is no "drivers ed program". I mean literally, there is no such thing. At least where I'm from.

But that's not the reason there's so many crash footages. The main reason is cause they're mandated by their insurance companies to have cameras in their cars.

 

There is a mandatory driver's course over here. You have to take the course if you want to apply for a license.

Also, as for crashes vs cameras argument, have you seen the kinds of accidents they get in?
They seem like they do not have a clue, period.
I'm guessing the inordinate number of accidents led to the mandatory camera clause.

 

I always thought it was mandatory in order to stop the pedestrian collision scammers.

 

Here in illinois you'll probably get thrown in jail for having a dash cam since you can record cops being crooks.

 

And insurance fraud in general was a huge problem.

Any recommendations on how to get a timer switch on T10 fluorescent light? I tried the Autochron (manual switch on/off) but it broke in less than a month. Most digital timers can't handle fluorescent...LEDs yes, but not fluorescent. I have no incandescent on the circuit.

Simple electronic in-line devices like maybe your timer are designed to replace a simple on/off switch in a box where only the HOT wire is present, not a ground or neutral. Therefore, they way they work is to "steal" a tiny amount of current. That is when the timer or photocell wants the lights to be OFF it is still passing just a few milliamps of current to operate its circuits, and be ready to switch when the time arrives. For incandescent bulbs, this current just passes through the bulb, and is so small that it does not even cause a little glow. But, flourescent bulbs DO NOT LIKE this set-up. It will cause the flickering etc. that you are seeing.

I use this exact model on my front porch lights. They are LED, but it works exceptionally well and does use both wires.

 

A quick perusal shows that some of these units specifically call out CFL-compatibility. I know from personal experience that CFLs don't like Triac-based controllers due to the leakage, and would expect those controllers which work with CFLs to also work with T10s.

How much marijuana are you growing under those lights, anyway?
