the problem really here is someone went in and manipulated the css/html via jquery like a monster. re-purposed buttons to do multiple things, tons of show/hide via the front-end vs. the back-end code. annoying to have to dissect and figure out why the HTML shows one thing, but the page renders another way. tons of event listeners doing ****.
So my stupid neighbor just walked over and asked whether I'd be okay with him building a henhouse in his backyard so that he can keep a couple egg-laying hens. Among other things, he told me that:
(1) He knows it's against city code, but
(2) He's using "kind of a grey area to get around that" (???), and
(3) He would build it on the opposite side of his yard from me, so that
(4) The noise would be minimal, not really more than a typical dog barking, and
(5) You know, some breeds are quieter than others, so he'd make sure to get quiet ones, of course, and
(6) It's best to start with two before they proceed to get six or eight hens.
I almost just told him no immediately but decided to be "nice" so I said I would think about it and do some research (before I tell him no).

In all seriousness, hens are pretty quiet. Now, by comparison, waking up to the combined shrieks of an angry rooster and a female panther in heat is pretty much the most terrifying alarm clock imaginable. I speak from experience on this, based upon my time spent living among the Seminole Indian tribe.
Just got back from my (hopefully) last surgery. They used a wire wrap (bailing wire) and glue (chewing gum) to seal the leaks. Sounds kinda sketchy to me, but they claim it worked.

But I was watching the Joe Rogan podcast with Jeff Garlin yesterday and the mentioned "The Day the laughter died" and explained the premise and such (I never knew about this album) I'm about 30 minutes into it, it's outstanding.

House is awesome, except for the fireplace. If there is going to be a fireplace, I like the original style to the house, not the modern stuff for a home like that.
With interest rates on the rise, if you think you'll be in Chicago and stay at the current gig long enough for the financials to make sense, I'd jump. Now.

I can tell you I much prefer coming home to my house and parking in the garage, having a yard for the dogs, etc, vs pulling into the parking garage for my swanky downtown apartment I had when I first moved here.

If the neighborhood is somewhere you can live (walkable to stores, beer, parks, paths, a giant lake) and the schools are decent (long term investment might also mean ... well, you know). It certainly looks like a pretty nice place and I have no garage so I'm into that, though detached garages in winter might suck (I see it has power at least).
I'd check it out on street view (and bing maps gets you in the alley -- or in person) and see if it's the type of neighborhood you want to live in. The 2 minutes I spent on street view show me it's a slightly working class area, though that just means your margarita bar will go over well.

Agreed. But trivial little **** like that is easily fixed, and totally insignificant as compared to a lot wide enough to host a 3 car garage. Most lots in this area are only 25' wide.

It's only a few blocks from where I live now.
I think you may need to adjust your perception what what a "slightly working class area" area looks like. By Chicago standards, this is one of the more yuppie neighborhoods.
