I've considered picking up a rape van for a tow vehicle.

I fucking hate baseball, they change pitchers for one hitter and it takes 30 minutes. If you start the inning, you should have to finish it. Also, I think if your in the stands wearing the home team jersey and catch the ball, it should be an out.

We could tow anything with the 2000 3/4ton Chevy express van with the 5.7 V8. The removable 2 rows of seats allowing for up to 8 passengers was also a blessing on long trips to Colorado. Dad built a platform in the remaining ginormous area behind the second row so that two people could be sleeping at a time, and have luggage storage beneath.

It got 18mpg city, and 10mpg when towing. We ended up donating it to a church camp. I miss it.

Pic related.

Rape van? No.

School Bus? Yeah.

Seriously, I made this pledge to myself about 7 or 8 years ago. If I am ever diagnosed with a terminal illness with ~ 1-2 years to live, my very next purchase is going to be Blue Bird.

I have two uncles who are bus enthusiasts, Ed and Bob. Bob was semi-famous, drew a lot of lithographs of Route 66 and was the inspiration for "Filmore" in the movie "Cars". Ed ran the Cozy Dog and is credited by many with the invention of the corn dog.

Yep. Only time I have time to do things is when I get home... at fucking 4am!!! Then I can't sleep until something like 7-8am, then I sleep right up until I have to get up and go back to work. So I do nothing productive outside of work all week, and typically use my weekends to catch up on missed sleep... no I'm useless. I couldn't work on my car even if I had the money.

Did anyone else hear the fan in the 4th inning shouting "You suck!" and "Suck my ass [name]!"

Not sure who Jack is. Google returned many more hits than were useful for all possible search combinations of Jack, Island, and Douchebag.

Thus, yet another in a series of tired, over-extended clichés which make me laugh.

You know what'd be freakin' awesome? A 12-hour unlimited spec Miata race. Have teams build the best (fastest, most reliable, economical) Miata possible and rip it around a track for 12 hours. It'd actually be pretty cool I think - you couldn't make it super-duper jet powered because it wouldn't run for 12 hours, but you couldn't make it piss-weak because then it'd run forever but be slower than shit.

Wait, then it would just be a competition of who has the most money... Fuck, back to the drawing board.

There needs to be some race where people build up a car to a certain spec but not with rigid specifications. Place a cap on horsepower and tires and let the rest be decided by the team. It'd create for some interesting racing, different styles of cars all over surely.

What the world really needs is a ABCDEF ranking system like in Forza... Because THAT would make for some interesting racing.

Apart from the 12 hour limit, it sounds like you're describing the rules from the Miata Challenge series.

It doesn't work the way. Racing a car takes a lot preparation and $$$. SM is basically the cheapest way to go w2w racing. Pour gas, torque wheels, air pressure, oil and you're good to go.

Claimer rules are the only way I can see a race series or classification stay "affordable". Otherwise, there's just too much money and time to be spent eeking out that last bit of performance from a car. And honestly, I wouldn't want to race in a claimer series -- even if all the cars are relatively equal, my car is still my car, and I'd hate to have to sell it if someone decided it was worth their money.

Our local track up here has a claimer series. Everyone is pumped to receive the purse, but then hates it when they have to sell their car.

Yesterday I got my swerve on in the pickup truck to avoid this final destination shit.

I literally wept with laughter:

I just taught my sister how to drive a manual on my ACT-HD unsprung 6 puck.

Aricjm15 10-20-2010 11:38 PM

I taught my fiance on an act xt with a street disk. She now thinks all other clutches feel way too soft.

rider384 10-20-2010 11:42 PM

This thing probably has ~ .5-.75 inches of engagement. I told her that if she can drive this she can drive anything.
