How bad is it? Will the lifter still move freely?

yes and no, there is a spot of metal that is fraying out where the compressor stopped, and so it lightly scratches sometimes against the lifter... ****

Reminds me of nicks a flat head screw driver makes on aluminum when trying to pry something... If I cant hone it down or something, could I maybe get it tack welded in those spots and have a machinist match the bore?

Try and polish it out so the lifter won't hang up on it. Or is it too deep for that?

Take some emery paper and sand it down just so it's not rubbing the lifter. Use a LIGHT TOUCH! The nick in the side won't hurt anything, but the burr raised around the edge needs to be removed.

I am just worried that the pockets left behind will start eating away... or am I okay with the small pockets? I use a green polishing compound on everything, it it shows where the pockets where metal was removed. I took a small milling shaft for my dremel to take out the burrs, removed just enough where sand and polishing can remove the rest. They stuck out about half a millimeter, so im guessing the impression is about that much

A small hole isn't going to cause any harm so long as there are no sharp edges.

Consider the following: Oil has to get to the lifter somehow. And by what means is this? A hole. (One with no sharp protrusions.)

Grind away.

Make sure nothing is sticking out, smooth it down well with some emery cloth and don't think about it again. It'll be fine.

Just an observation... Sony needs to ******* limit the PS3 system updates to once a week or something. Every ******* time I turn on the thing, it seems like there is a system update that I have to download and install before I can watch anything on NetFlix or play a game. Gets old. Start up shouldn't take 5 minutes every time I want to use it.

I'd rather have system updates all the time then get personal info stolen through their network because they decided not to update.

If you are a Kung Fu movie fan, or appreciate Asian art, or WWII movies, or just a fan of enjoyable movies and you also have NetFlix, you must go and watch "Ip Man". A story based on a true Kung Fu master, taking place during the Japanese occupation of China before and during WWII. Wonderful story, acting, visuals, music... amazing movie. Master Ip was actually Bruce Lees real life mentor.

I think I might finally get a PS3.
I still find joy in GT3 and GT4 though.

That movie is on my Instant Netflix que. Maybe I'll start it. I watched Mr. Baseball on Saturday. A story based on a NY Yankees player that gets traded to a Japanese Baseball League. Wonderful Stashes, chest hair... amazing movie.

Aw, I have birthday kitty showing for my today, but I can't see it at work :(
