Something I've learned over the past couple of months-

I wish for a large satellite TV company. I test various set top boxes (STBs) to ensure the work properly with various software updates/revisions. Lately, the company developed a box to be used in Mexico. So I've been doing various tests and watching our Mexico programming. I use SPEED channel a lot. I've learned that SPEED channel for our Mexican neighbors is much better than US SPEED channel. Much more varied programming, not 24/7 ASSCAR. Though they still show a fair bit of ASSCAR, it's not nearly as much.

Interesting.

That's why I barely watch SPEED. When they aren't showing Nascar, it's not too bad. But 90% of their lineup during Nascar season is Nascar.

Damn you post-nasal drip!!! I thought I had gotten my cough under control, haven't hardly coughed at all, all afternoon and night. Then I lay down and within 45 minutes, soon after I fall asleep I wake up to a surprise ab muscle workout, coughing my lungs up. Just a slight, almost unnoticeable drip of thin fluid from my sinuses down my throat, triggering this crap. I fought it last year, and it took me nearly 6 months to completely get rid of it. I've had a cold and/or bronchitis for the last week or so, and it has set it off again.

I've been having that crap for a week now. Any OTC meds that you find help particularly well?

Claritin or rather the generic equivalent worked for me.

NA6C-Guy 12-11-2011 11:39 AM

I've just been taking Mucinex DM, which is a cough suppressant and chest phlegm thinner. It helped a good bit when I was still coughing stuff up from my chest, but now it's only helping with the cough a little. Best thing for me so far is hooking up my humidifier. I go through about a gallon of water every 12 hours. Dry air kills my lungs and makes me start coughing without any control.

But no, I haven't found anything last year or this year that really helps OTC. Some of it reduces symptoms, but nothing allows me to get restful sleep.

Rum.

rleete 12-11-2011 12:27 PM

Screw OTC. Go to the Dr. Have him prescribe CODEINE cough syrup. It knocks you out so you can get the sleep you need, and supresses the cough so it doesn't wake you up or kill your throat while you're sleeping.

NA6C-Guy 12-11-2011 12:48 PM

I would if I could. I'm between jobs right now and have no insurance. It's OTC and home remedies for me. Which is usually the case even when I do have insurance.

What better way to start the day than breakfast washed down with a screw driver?

Simple- don't bother with the breakfast part.

NA6C-Guy 12-11-2011 01:19 PM

Gotta have that bacon, come on now!

Mucinex makes your sinuses run to thin the mucus, adding to the cough.

Everything good has been taken off the market. Even Nyquil was reformulated to become worthless vile shit. Kill the methheads and other druggies for ruining OTC effectiveness.

NA6C-Guy 12-11-2011 10:17 PM

Yeah, like I said, this originally started out as bronchitis, but it has seemed to have faded away, and now I am left with this hellish nasal drip. So I guess I should lay off the Mucinex now and go back to straight Delsym to help with the cough.

So you're telling me the US SPEED channel has even more NASCAR?????

I've been watching the Mexican market sports channels on the SKY satellite for 5yrs now. I've enjoyed getting some fights that would be PPV here for free on there, as well as every F1 race live, and apparently a better SPEED channel.

Who would have known?
