^ That's some seriously respectable work on the drum-micing.
Like, I've worked with people who do literally nothing but that at a professional level, and I still can't quite visualize the setup. An lot of post work was obviously involved, but that in no way diminishes the need for capturing clean isos during the session. Which definitely happened here. |

And keep in mind in this video, he's a stones throw from 60.
Like when I saw Rush on the R40 tour back in 2015. Peart was still just mind blowing. |
I'm committed to an E60 tune, but there is only one station in my region that sells corn. I'm looking for a roughly 35 gallon fuel caddy, but they all seem kinda crap quality. Does anyone have experience or recommendations? I'm ok with multiple small containers if that's the right solution.
|
I use 5 gallon jugs like Scribners or https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/pr...3?cm_vc=-10005 but tractor supply sells plenty of larger transfer tanks if you want one.

They're typically made from polyethylene, and are robust and inexpensive. You can buy 'em in a variety of shapes and sizes, often with no fittings or holes so that you can cut your own. One random example: https://www.plastic-mart.com/category/33/rv-water-tanks Same advice applies to pesticide tanks: https://www.northerntool.com/shop/to...+sprayer-tanks |

You (and Scott) may find this interesting then.
Now I feel the need to share my favorite drummer videos from when I could go to shows. To continue the theme of people who might be too good at their craft: The thing with Tortoise is that at least three of the members are super accomplished stickmen. And who could go without the early Hella stuff before they devolved into actual noise: |
“It appears that we have differing expectations as to the level of service response which is appropriate during a major outage at a national network hub.”
That's not exactly the email that I woke up this morning hoping I'd have to send. |
My laptop is nearing its usable life after many, many, many years of pretty hard use.
I had to find and buy a new one, and it turned out to be an ordeal - there are so many models with cool features. Finally got a pretty hi tech laptop. It has a color monitor! |
Ha. Enjoy it!
My wife's work thinkpad has a touchscreen. I thought it a gimic but damn it's useful. |
It seems that absolutely no one manufactures a small, propane toaster oven. Or even a Coleman-fueled one.
|
Nevermind.
I fail at reading. |
They have those propane pizza ovens. That's somewhat close.

Took old boy out for a spin and had to go pay the attendant twice. Premium has skyrocketed and now I'm sad.

Can't get E down there?
I'll be taking the SS for flex fuel kit and tune tomorrow. |

+1 on Hakan.
1 US gallon is 3.78 liters. 1 liter of fuel here costs approx 1.55 euros. 1 euro is 1.18USD today. That is 6.9USD per gallon. |

$3.09 is skyrocketed? It's $4.29 here. Had to swipe my card twice when filling 5 jugs of fuel for the track.

22 year old Frank Hayes had never won a race before, and was in fact not a jockey by profession, but a horse trainer and longtime stableman.
In 1923, he rode a horse called Sweet Kiss at the Belmont Park Steeplechase on Long Island. The horse, a 20-1 outsider, was owned by Miss A. M. Frayling. During the latter stage of the race, Hayes suffered a heart attack and died. His body slumped over onto the horse, but remained in the saddle. Sweet Kiss finished the race in first place by a head, with Hayes still atop her back, making him the first (and to date, only) jockey to have won a race while deceased. |

I could be wrong, but there used to be a pretty popular nickname for the 30 mm Gatling gun the A10 is attached to.
I am talking about the GAU-8 Avenger. Came up in a conversation, and I just can't remember the nickname to save my life. |

I remember being fascinated by the Phalanx system clear back in the 80's when reading (in the Tom Clancy novels) about their use on ships . The notion of spewing such an enormous volume of depleted uranium ammo such as to make a virtual shield against incoming strikes still blows my mind.

In a freak accident today, a photographer was killed when a huge lump of cheddar landed on him.
To be fair though, the people who were being photographed did try to warn him... |

When we were teenagers, my friend Jon and I and I did a lot of, what for a kid in western Florida in the late 80s, passed for urban exploration.
Which basically meant that we spent a fair bit of time in the dumpster behind Storer Cable, managed to talk our way straight into the telephone company CO, amassed a small and coveted assortment of the keys used to open utility boxes, that sort of thing. We learned how to drive roadworks vehicles (steamrollers, graders, etc) which had been parked overnight with the keys carelessly "hidden." One stands out in my memory, though. I'll never forget the night we snuck into the cat factory. "Feline Assembly Plant #12" according to the small sign above the loading dock entrance door which had carelessly been left ajar. Inside, it was dark. And I recall that we spent some time rummaging around in the repair department. The sound was difficult to describe; hundreds, perhaps thousands of soft mews, seemingly all in chorus. But what I recall most was the warehouse area, where raw materials were kept. On one side of the floor was at least a hundred shrink-wrapped pallets, stacked 4-5 high, each with a thermo-printed label saying "SOFT, WARM LOVLIENESS" and a barcode and number. And on the other side was a small metal table with a measuring scale, a scoop, and a plastic bin. On the bin was a hand-written label (think sharpie-on-masking-tape kind of thing) which read "razor death-blades of horror." This was way before hurricane Charlie, of course. Used to be located out on the far-east end of Jones Loop Road. I have no idea whether they rebuilt locally afterwards, or just moved inland. |
They moved up US-17 towards Arcadia to be out of reach of a storm surge. Cats tend to malfunction if exposed to large quantities of water.

If you say to a person in northern Florida that you are from "the west coast," this has one specific meaning. They assume you're a Tampon. Or, at least, Tampon-adjacent.
If you say this to a person in literally any other state in the CONUS, it has a different meaning entirely. That took me a while to figure that out. Shortly after which I wound up living on the "west coast" which they had in mind. Like, about a mile from the Pacific. Gods, I miss Carlsbad.... Fun fact: roughly 2/3 of all "Florida Man" crimes are committed within a 100 mile radius of Port Charlotte, FL. There's nothing special or unique about Port Charlotte. It's just a little geographic oddity which happens to be located halfway between Tampa and Fort Myers. |
I've heard a DJ say it is the west coast of the east coast of North America.

Interesting.

The androids really are dreaming of electric sheep.

Somewhere along the line, we (society) decided that we were going to call chicken seeds "eggs," and plant eggs "seeds" and act as though they were two entirely distinct things.
And now everyone just pretends to ignore this and act as though it's completely normal. |
Pollen is tree bukkake. Change my mind.

Would any of you guys have access to an R34 GTR?
I need some specific frame dimensions. |
What on earth are you up to again?
|
Converting a rwd R33 into a 4wd R34 GT-R, moving all the fiddly bits like the steering wheel, pedals, etc to the proper side (rhd to lhd drive) in the process, and finding over 800 ponies to volunteer for duty under the hood.

I got food poisoning last week and couldn't join my fiance to visit her parents in Florida, then while she was gone the AC broke over the weekend. Talk about a bummer.
Thankfully it wasn't too expensive to have fixed and she had a great time in Florida. |
What would cause a gravity fed mower to starve fuel when it gets hot? I've tried gutting the fuel cutoff, even replaced the entire carb including the fuel cutoff solenoid. It's not the gas cap breather or any of the plumbing either. It runs for 1/2 hr, and then just sucks the fuel line dry & dies.
|
Is the gas cap vented?
|
Cap is vented, and the vent is working fine. Taking the cap completely off doesn't make any difference.
|
Fine particles gradually clogging up the inlet screen on the fuel tank pick up?
|
I've hesitated to post this, because it seems so obvious that it must be wrong, but... this is pretty much the textbook example of vapor lock.
Wrap heat-reflective, insulating material around the fuel line, maybe? |
Is there actually gas in it? I just want to check the obvious.
Might be time to add a MS, because carbs are voodoo. |
Vapor lock is where my head is at. Being an air cooled engine with a bunch of shields, I'm wondering if I have a giant mouse nest or similar & the damn thing is just overheating.
|
The Miata won't start, and I find it really hard to care.

25th wedding anniversary today. I got steak, scallops and corn on the cob for dinner, with a blueberry pie for dessert.

This just in: Turns out my frame rails are rusted.
22 year old car + humid Istanbul weather = iron oxide. I discovered this while stripping my car down to the shell for a comprehensive paint job. It will be gone over with a fine tooth comb, all rust - surface and otherwise - will be eliminated, the whole thing will be painted inside and out. The car will be ceramic coated once the paint sets, followed by clear protective wrap for good measure. I have the frame repair panels ready, I had made an extra set while I was doing the same job on a friend's black '03 a while back. My only consolation is mine are not as bad. And, before suggesting I should keep the drivetrain and just buy another Miata, please remember these cars are very rare over here, and a stock Miata in decent condition goes for about $20K. Details to follow in a dedicated thread. |
