Why must USPS suck so much. They never update my tracking info, and the lazy bitch never gets out of her truck to actually attempt to leave the package on my door step, she just passes by and leaves it for me to go pick up at the post office.

Bryce Nov 29, 2012 09:29 PM

UPS is win. My driver will honk at me and wave when we pass while driving.

Exactly. I used to know my old UPS driver by name, and we would talk. He would even come around to the back yard to let me know he was there if I was working on my car or something. He retired and my new driver is still 100X better than my lazy, overpaid bitch of a USPS mail carrier.

Yeah, I make sure to treat my package delivery people very nice. I receive too many valuable packages to get on their bad side :)

The lady at the usps counter where I last lived knew me by name and would have my sig. req. package waiting for me each time I had one.

This guy is basically the best driver in the world, has to be careful to not intimidate other drivers when he's on track, and now he's telling us to shuffle-steer:

I've deleted a long post about how keeping your hands fixed on the wheel is a bad idea in the typical DE car. It would be better if we simply got paired up at an event and I could coach you through the proper technique of what's erroneously called shuffle steering. I think you'll find a little more time gets shaved off when applied properly.

I do that. I'm awesome!

The last time I saw our old UPS driver was when I was running down the street after him shouting, "GET BACK HERE YOU STUPID FUCKER!!!!!!!". This was after I watched him throw a box from the truck into my front yard because it was raining. It was nothing special, just a brand new MS-PnP. He got fired.

The UPS guy who I see now just lost all his cool points. I had a 6spd delivered to my place while I was out of town. I get home to see the box standing on it's side with "THIS SIDE UP" facing the wall, not actually facing "up". The trans was sitting on it's tail end and leaking oil. I was so fucking mad.

USPS is hit or miss. See my thread for reference: https://www.miataturbo.net/insert-bs...sps-1-a-63771/

I love UPS.

Also, a 2001 VW Passat 1.8t is a terrible, terrible life decision, right?

Yes, like holy fucking shit, absolutely.

Two of my friends have them. One is selling his after a year and a half and the other now drives a Mazda.

Our UPS guy knows me by name. His name is Rory. His picture is on the internet from some craft store.

I like to play a game with him because he's reknown for his skill at carrying TALL stacks of boxes down a flight of stairs to our office.

When he picks up a tall stack he can't see over, I will hide behind it and put HEAVY DOWNWARD PRESSURE on the stack so it feels super heavy. Then when he is about a couple inches lifted, I release the pressure and he gets all weirded out. It's pretty awesome.

EVEN MORE AWESOME because he's a total musclehead guy. he does even lift.

Pen2_the_penguin Nov 30, 2012 02:36 PM

He lifts boxes.

Vashthestampede Dec 1, 2012 12:42 PM

Worked all day Thursday and Friday with the broken hand. I was lifting the forms mostly with my left arm and two fingers on my right hand, keeping my pinky finger out of the mix. Right around lunch time I hit that son of a bitch on a piece of rebar and swear I saw stars. lol

Today I took the day off to go to the hospital, but decided not to when I woke up. If I baby it today and tomorrow hopefully it'll be a bit better for work again on Monday.

So today I've been working on estimates at home instead of any more lifting. Just did one for 41, 8'x8'x3' footings for solar panels in a parking lot. Collectively there's over 7000' of rebar in them! Fucking insane.

Remember when you were all like "fuck Obama, he's going to ruin my business!"

you should look in the mirror and say that to the guy that breaks your hand and makes it hard to do business...

Braineack Dec 1, 2012 05:08 PM

kinda of want: Used 2006 Audi S4 Avant

Joe Perez Dec 1, 2012 05:40 PM

Oh, I get it.

You want to go to Germantown to buy a German car.

Hilarious post. Would read again.

From a motor perspective? The V6 had 50 miles of vacuum hose. If the V8 has a few miles less, it should be more reliable. God knows where VAG found that god-aweful fabric encased rubber crap.

From an overall car perspective? The B6 S4 completely blows away the B5 (I had a B5). Seating position, shifting, brake feel, handling, all sooo much better. I spent a lot of money on that B5 trying to get it to feel halfway decent. Loved the motor, though.
