I am having a Shuiend issue...

...my rebuilt engine is less than 1000 miles now, approaching 876 miles and its starting to develop more than just my valve lash issue...

...sounds more like a faint wrist pin or really quiet rod knock.



At least my machine shop has agreed to take a look at it, and if it was a freak situation and/or their machinist they will only charge me their flat rate for inspection.


BUT FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!

This is why I paid for my local machine shop to do it (which is own by good dudes), because when **** hits the fan really prematurely Aim's is really good at correcting it at no expense.

I bought this camper a couple years back. Trillium Jubilee. It's a 6" x 10' fiberglass box with a door and windows. Took it camping a couple of times. Lightweight, easy to tow and has all the amenities. Then the wife noticed the door is leaking.

So, Tuesday I take off work to fix it. I go out to get started. Take off the door, and the screws are all rusted away. Not a good sign. The plywood inside is all rotted away. Crumbles to the touch. No big deal, I can replace that. Notice that the threshold is looking rotted as well. Pull up the ugly 70's vinyl floor to peek underneath, whereupon it tears. No big deal, we wanted to replace that, too. But the floor is rotten. As in turned to dirt, doesn't even resemble plywood anymore.

Took Wednesday off to remove the remaining floor, which is epoxy glued to the inside of the camper shell. Rotten, soaking wet, smelly plywood. 2 days of prying, chiseling and scraping has finally gotten to a surface ready to accept the new plywood.

Apparently this is a well known rain dance, as it is pouring today and forecast to last over the weekend. Nothing like exposing the interior to the elements just as we get 4 days of soaking rain.

 

I think I'm too scared to ever get an engine build.

Same. I'll be getting mine back in 3 weeks. I hope it last more than 1000 miles.
I've put offers on 14 differnt houses this year.
I have either been outbid or when i bid below asking (HUD homes) they counter with an offer that is above listing price.
Talking to a guy Sunday. He seems to think his house is worth 115k when all the houses that have been right next to the tracks have sold for around 80k.

Also, if you have repeatedly bid below asking and were countered with an offer above asking... Shouldn't you offer the asking price? If you have had 14 offers rejected because they were considered too low, maybe the problem is that you are bidding too low.

**** houses (that could be a debate, 1000sq/ft 2+ car garage, bit of land, in working order) Not really crap to me, it's what i've always lived in.
When i bid it's not much lower, but if there are other bidders everyones offer will get not rejected but counter offered higher than the highest bidder (which is usually over asking).
And maybe i am bidding to low... But i have a budget. I'm renting now and it's not like i NEED to move. But we all know the advantages to owning a house.


the first house i bid on was 40k it went for 50k, i'm not proud of it and glad i didn't get it.

 

I offered the asking price, which is my limit. If they counter, I'll have to bow out.

2500 sq ft house on a 13k sq ft lot for 160k is how the market is here. Its an older late 70s house that's been updated and is in great condition.

Houses around here are selling the day they're listed.

 

They're going like hot cakes around here too. Can't miss out on that 3.5%.

These houses are 50's and in a really good part of town.

 

So here is a craycray idea: shop for houses that cost less than your budget so you can overbid and be in budget?

Honestly, your agent is either a pushover or a dipshit letting you underbid uncompetetively. My agent has enough spine to say "don't even bother--find something you can afford" and she's kind and gentle and dainty young woman.

Of course I'm in the world's weirdest housing market where a 900 square foot house with one bathroom is over half a million.

 

Nope. Like i said, they're just selling so dang fast, and with multiple bidders.

Detroit has real low housing prices. Which is a good thing i guess... A lot of people are buying.
