Default I got a new pet....

I bought a Tokay Gecko. They are mean. Very very VERY mean. I love it though. Hes the second one ive owned and hes 4 months old. Hes already bitten me about 5 times since yesterday and it hurts every time.

Here he is on his way to me:

Heres what he did to me literally 6 mins into me having him in my office:

Here he is driving in the car with me on the way home:

He got loose in the car while I was on the way home. He bit me once when I caught him.

Then he **** on me:

Then he broke loose from my grip and bit again but this time on my side, close to my back. At this point, he clamped down hard and would not let go at all (its what they do). So I had to take my shirt off:

He held on for 18mins total. Each time I tried to get him off of my shirt, he started swinging his head violently so i just let him sit there till he let go on his own:

I made it home and let him loose in his new home; My patio. Hes eaten 10 huge crickets lastnight and is doing just well now. Oh yeah, he "barks" when hes pissed. Heres a sample of what its like to own one of these:

And feeding time:

Pretty bad ***, is there anyway to "tame" these once they get to recognize you and get comfortable in their surroundings?

I had a pair of them YEARS ago....I couldn't sleep at night and had to return them
Oh the fun I had trying to get them in a box for transport.....
I decided on Ball Pythons after that...much cooler and you can take them places.

I wanted Jared to get a Python so it could play with his little dog.

When I worked at Petco years ago I was the aquatics/reptile manager for almost 3 years, so I've handled probably over a hundred of these *******. The jaws on these things are insane! Their eyes will go into their heads from the pressure they put down.

I told a new kid once that part of my initiation to working in the fishroom was letting one of them bite you. He was a football player, 300lbs, over 6', etc. I let the tokay bite him on the flap between his thumb and pointer. This kid let out a yelp like a 4 year old girl and cried until I took it off him. lol Although we had some more than usual nasty ones come through the vendors over the years, and at the time it was probably one of them.

I went to a reptile show back then when I was into the whole thing and saw the biggest, friendliest tokay I've ever seen in my life. This thing was way bigger than any tokay I've seen, easily. And the girl that owned it just handled it everyday and made it docile. You could pet it, pick it up, feed it by hand, etc.

I've had so many crazy reptile moments those years I did that ****. Sometimes I miss doing all of that. It was like I had a few hundred fish and a couple dozen snakes and lizards that were all mine.....until I sold them.

I guess I'm the only one here that doesn't understand reptile pets. Never interested me. Pretty to look at, but thats about it. Not worth the upkeep to me. I'll stick with cats and dogs.

That second video had me busting up! Badass lizard. I had a few small geckos and anoles growing up. They were fun but not the kind of lizard you can hold on account they run and drop off their tails if you accidentally grab them. Still have a couple pet turtles that I got when they were the size of a quarter.

A Tokay loose in the car while driving... that might be more dangerous than texting.

I also saw a tame one years ago and it was also the largest one that I have ever seen.
