That's what I liked about my SiR cluster, it went to 9k (engine limited to "only" 8.5k). Doing the kph-mph conversion in your head gets old pretty quick though.

Redline in 1st and 2nd is hard not to hit if I'm in the throttle.... I tend to botch my 2-3 upshift now and then, banging the limiter that way sounds kinda cool but really pisses me off!

In my 91, I very very rarely redline , the damn thing is just so slow being NA, that I'm afraid I'm hurting it

the 3-2 upshift has been known to cause eventual rod failures in miatas... doh!

i have never done the 3-2, but i have done the 2-5 several times

A friend had a 2006 Sebring Touring sedan with the V6 in it. We tore the complete and total shit out of that car. Neutral drops off the limiter leaving 100+ foot long burnout marks, donuts, everything you could think of. If a Dodge automagic front drive transmission can putup with OUR abuse.. :bowrofl: Had a lot of fun doing it, too.

By 3-2 upshift do you mean going from 3 to 2 on a downshift to accelerate, or do you mean trying to go from 3 to 4 and stuffing it back into second gear?

I've got a fidenza (sp?) short throw shifter and can't fucking for the life of me shift quickly from 2 - 3, I keep ending up on the gate or in fifth gear. :crx:

Engine mounts and diff mounts would be the thing to upgrade to help with that.

i banged the rev limiter constantly on most cars i've ever owned. never had one come apart. My wife is the only person who blew one of my cars up, and she did that at cruise on the interstate!

Bounce mine off the (6500!) rev limiter all the time. It's fun. First time I did so was when I drove off the dealership lot on the initial test-drive. Hadn't yet shifted out of first gear -- I didn't know the limiter on an MSM is much lower than on a regular Miata, nor did I know at the time that turbos need to warm up first! Scared the shit out of the salesman in the Chrysler dealership (first owner traded it for a PT Cruiser).

i dont know i enjoy the sound of spark cut..... mixed in with some tire spining and waistgate making alot of noise..... yea i hit spark cut alot when having fun...

My dad seems to have a deep hatrid for 3rd gear, or he just has no idea where it is lol.

I love revving the nuts off of my car, its NA so I have to if I want to move, plus its fun sounding like your going fast!

bouncing off the rev limiter was probably what did in my last motor.

(the fact that it stayed there for about 20 seconds as i held one hand up in the air, inhaling tire smoke, spinning donuts, while screaming "HAIYO TURBOPOWERZZZZ!" probably helped as well.....)

Spark cut is gloriously better than fuel cut...not just in sound but for your engine too!

Did you stop the run because you were no longer making power past 6K?


Man, you are paranoid. Don't do this same bullshit when you put in the new motor........whenever the hell that happens!
