Default I hate wiring (speakers)

Which is why I took 6-8 hours of my weekend to wire up my speakers the neat way this time. Usually I just cram the speaker wires down in cracks, and use radioshack bullet connectors. Works, but its not pretty. This time I hacked up an old power supply and stole a few of the molex connectors. That with some heat shrink tubing made for a fairly neat harness. Its all under the carpet, and comes through under the seat like factory. Not bad for someone who HATES wiring.

Im proud of myself for now rushing the job like I normally do, so Im sharing. I was worried about sound quality, but I cant tell any difference from straight wiring. I do have 2 different splices though. 4x50W head unit pushing stock size door speakers, and 4 4'' headrest speakers.

Fixed. Stock head units are a joke. When I used to care about car audio, I ran an amp to every speaker. You'd be amazed what a 50W RMS per channel decent amp will do to a pair of 6x9's or the like. Also running decent wire to the speakers helps too.

I was thinking about doing something with an amp, but decided this car doesnt need a good system. As long as its loud enough for me to hear with with the top down at 80, its good enough. Whatever the head unit output is, its good enough. Hopefully within a few months I will have a new type of music to listen to.....

Good job taking your time doing the wiring neatly. It'll pay off if you ever have to troubleshoot the install. In highschool I worked in a stereo shop, and we sold mid range to high end stuff. I was amazed when I replaced the Sony deck I originally had installed with a Nakamichi deck - it was the only thing I swapped. Subjectively it sounded dramatically better, and objectively I got 2dB more max SPL out of it.

I cringe when I have to lift my center console. I had to run wires from amp in the trunk all the way into each door. not to mention 2 sets of RCAs that run back from the HU, it's not pretty. At least it sounds cool when I listen to Cool me Badd.
