i love prices from local tuners

Turbo cars are hard to quote a firm price. There are a lot of issues.
One of the biggest has to do with heat. You have to let them cool when
you start to apply load.
Our base price to tune a turbo car is $1200. Our hourly rate is $150 for
the dyno and $250 for the tuner. If it takes only 2 hours then then base
rate of $1200 will apply. I assume that you are running unleaded pump gas.
This rate is for tuning services only. Many times we have to work on fuel
system, ignition systems and even change plugs. These things are not
tuning and additional costs could apply.

jeezus, if changing plugs is a big deal, I can't imagine they could figure out how to tune a car. 
this is the same scenario I heard at the local firestone shop when they told a woman it was going to be over $400 to get her new battery installed. Preying on the uneducated (or who they think is uneducated).

Sounds right to me. How long do you think it takes? How did you want the pipes routed? I know I will spend over 10 hours doing all mine, with removing & reinstalling the bumper & fenders (I go thru the fenders), obviously cutting,trimming, welding all the pipes, bead rolling, adding BOV & IAC ports (install pipe, mark location, remove, drill holes, fishmouth the pipes, deburr, clean filings from pipes, degrease, tack, reinstall to check fitment, remove, weld, reinstall...), bung for IAT sensor...

A long time ago I needed some body work done on the Miata. One of the shops listed $50 in the estimate for "roof removal".

I'd rather not disclose, considering I don't want to get a shitty internet crybaby ------ reputation among the local track crew. I will say that Tony Palo was cool enough to let me rent the dyno and tune myself, but he didn't want to jack with MS himeself becuase he doesn't like it. He hustles MoTec and has a product to sell. I suppose motec is better for some reason I don't understand.
