my disc was thicker than 8mm, both the discs brad received were around 6mm. None worked, we had it on a lift and watched the TOB, through the tranny, and it didnt travel far enough inward to push the diaphragm in to release the clutch. We even tried extruding extra force via a pry bar to see if we could go further, but no. I've also felt a working 3X before and it's heavy, since we had no reach, the pedal felt weak. They never have answers and the best advice they give is "check the forums."

I got the XTMM (1.6) because I can deal with the heavy pedal and I think I like a regular street disc after driving on a pucked for a week.

Had to cancel my order the the ACT. prostreetonline.com seems to have a hard time getting ACT to drop ship something that they have in stock!

Called ACT and while they had the kit is stock, they wanted over $100 more for it directly from them.

SOooooooo. I asked them about just the disc, they had it in stock as well, then inquired about shipping by Friday to the East Coast and the suggested Carolina Clutch. So I called them up and they had both the disc and kit in stock. I was able to get just the disc out today. I'll see it Thursday. Got Kotomile to 2-day his new XT PP to me, I'll see that Friday

So in the end I'll make out with new parts for $100 less than what I was going to spend previously!

Don't know why anyone orders ACT **** from anywhere but Carolina Clutch. They were a breeze to work with.

I got a video camera so Scott and I will be recording our 2 hour clutch change. All you can see how much work I do and how much Scott complains.

ACT disc in possession.

I'm curious about it. Not only is it different than my previous disc of the same part number....it looks like it's a SS disc, not a MM. I'm going to call them and see when they updated the design.

It used to have 6 spring thinner "dual" springs, blue springs, Exedy labels and the friction material looks different (feels different to touch, copper flakes throughout).

MM stands for modified disc. It to look very much like a stock disc, with the purple Exedy hub and upgraded springs...the friction material was most likely stock. But this looks like they built it themselves now.

The SS is supposed to have the organic friction surface and upgraded hub section...which is what this seems to have.

Anyways, some pics for the people who dont care:

Ok image below is a 1.8L SS disc (3000203) and stock 1.6 disc:

My disc looks too much like this, true, SS disc for me not to assume that's what I have now. Considering I know what my last ZM1-HDMM disc looked like and I just physically held Brad's ZM1-XTMM disc in my hands last week.

maybe they did away with MM?

if its the same friction material, why would it be better?

the MM And SS have different materials. they say the MM is "improved" and the SS is organic. I dunno. I'd rather have the SS if the material has better friction coefficient. that's all. If I hadn't already had a few MM discs in my hands before, I would have never noticed, but since it's significantly different looking than before my cat like curiosity has been peaked. They rate it at the same TQ holding, but they say it engages a tad "harsher" so I assume the material is better.

The disc I got from FM looks like the one on the left. Don't recall if there were copper flakes or not, but it did have 4 big yellow springs.

weird. maybe they updated the design in the past few years.

The disc I had with my first HD kit looked exactly like stock. purple hub with Exedy printed on it, the only difference being the removal of the bushings for springs.

maybe that's why mine started slipping at 200rwhp when a bunch of you guys could take it up past 250.

maybe that's also why Brad's is slipping past 200rwtq with his XT PP.....

dont you love how I over think like everything?

I was with the Clutchnet PP since it was lighter. I decided to go with a heavy PP and street disc to retain better driveability.

dont you wish someone would invent some magic clutch with the pedal pressure and drivability of stock but with twice the holding power?

oh
wait...

I just spoke with Igor, he was cool about my concern (fear of installing a bum clutch) and is letting me send it back for a refund. I guess I'm out the cost of return shipping but... oh well. At least I won't have to do the install twice.
