Wife has considered borrowing a harness/leash from my nephew, and claiming he only goes out if we take him, but I really would rather deal with people who are more reasonable. Hell, this place even refused a retired vet for a cat because his service dog wasn't fixed.
We have an appointment this afternoon with the place I got my first cat from nearly 30 years ago. Their policy is that if a cat is to be indoor/outdoor, then you must keep up to date on all shots, flea medicine, etc. We do that anyway.
I hope to be posting pics of my new companion later this evening.

That's super rough, my sympathies for the loss but I'm glad you are carrying on and offing to help another little fuzzmonster. I truly hope it works out
I also found this striking beast on the internets the other day, so I figured this was a good place to share:
I can't say I've ever seen one with a pattern like that before!

Sorry, but I am a terrible liar. That, and having a conscience. But I may have found a cat anyway. I will post the whole story if it works out.
Brain, WTF? No checkups? Hell, I pay for them to get their teeth cleaned every couple of years.

Okay, I have been approved for the adoption, and new kitty will come home with us tomorrow night. His story is one sure to **** off anyone who likes cats.
Last week, we contacted a guy who has a Facebook page dedicated to finding lost pets and reuniting them with their human slaves. I decided to share some of the posts for other lost pets, as a way of thanks. Anyway, this one found cat pops up. A rescue group has him, and discovers he's microchipped and he's been fixed. So, they scan him and get the info. They then contact the family, who says, "we don't want him back". So, they apparently dumped him on the street to fend for himself. Poor guy has gotten worms, but is otherwise healthy.
When the rescue group puts him up for adoption, I say I'll take him, and fill out the online application. Knowing how I lost and found my kitty, they push through the vet appointment for shots, FIV test, etc. I was told this afternoon that I can pick him up and sign the papers (we have to re-register the chip info) tomorrow night. I was allowed to go see him and pet him a little tonight. Man, was it heart wrenching to leave him in that cage overnight. He was named Prince, but due to his past we have picked a new name for him. A clean break with a new name, a new start and a new home. May I present Altin (which is Turkish for gold):
He's a big guy, tipping the scales at about 17 pounds. He's also polydactyl. I thought about naming him Goldfinger, but was afraid it would get shortened to "Goldie", so I came up with Altin.
