:(

Extra hugs (met with much resistance) for my kitties this morning.
Even knowing they have shorter lives than us doesn't make it any easier.

:( :( :( 20 years is amazing.

I have three cats, and I had to catch the baby field mouse under my couch last night... stupid thing chewed through my porch screen and ran into the house while I was carb coma napping over the weekend.

Yeah, we were damn lucky to have 20 years.

But ****, while you know it's going to happen there's always this thing in your mind saying "nah, this one's going to beat a world record"

That's where I'm at with Cami. We got her at the pound 16 or 17 years ago. The pound thought she was 5 - 10 since she had a couple kittens and was full adult. For all I know she could be a record breaking munchkin. Every morning and every time I come home from work I have to do a check if I don't immediately see her. Always preparing myself for the worst.

The other day my wife and i did some critical thinking to determine how old our cats were. Turns out Peach is a good 2 years older than my brain thought he was. Then i had a sad. He's 10, which isn't much really. But he's also hugenormous. On the other hand, he's never been more active than he's been since we moved into this house, and he sure doesn't seem to be losing any speed or strength. Dude cleared an entire flight of stairs yesterday in one shot.

I worry about my two since Fredo was born with so many issues and they are littermates. Connie is a ******* fat cow at 20lbs, and Sonny is like 8lbs. Pookie is getting up there in age, he'll be 7 in Oct.

tomorrow im literally paying money to hang out with cats for an hour.

Here's my present predicament:

This one has no sense of personal space. She demands constant belly rubs, no matter what.

So, wasnt going to do this as soon as I did.

But the guy needed a home, and the gf loved him.

on top of that, when we went to the shelter the guy snuggled deep into my arms and fell asleep on me.

so yeah, this is Floyd.
Exploring his new home, and trying to smash my monitor.

We are fostering... they are a big hit. These get sent to Seattle on the 10th. Will get 4 more first week of August.

Fostering is rough. Just when you start to get attached, you have to give them away. I couldn't handle it.

^Can't think of it like that... think of it like... "I get older, they stay the same age."

Every 6-8 weeks somebody rolls up to the house while I go for walk. When I get home, the same kittens are there... they all lost some weight and changed colors, but it's the same ones.... repeat forever.

It would be different for dogs... can't be fostering a litter of terriers and come home from a walk and find greyhounds ... doesn't work, clearly these are different dogs. But kittens just look like kittens. Fostering is the best deal going.
