Old pictures of orphans I brought to my parents to raise. Their siblings didn't make it after their mom was hit by a car in front of my shop.

Widgie has been in the pet hospital since Monday morning. IV fluids have apparently helped. Wife visited him today, and he looks to be doing better. I wasn't looking forward to losing him this soon. We'll see if he keeps improving.

Not sure what it is with my cats; they seem to be trying to use up all their nine lives as fast as possible.

Today we put up the Girl's Day decorations. Diesel decided he MUST sit there even though we don't want him to.

Well, Widgie is back home. Skinny as a rail, fur all matted and stinky, but home. He's currently walking around, yowling all over the place. Won't eat or drink much at all.

Wife is a wreck, since she found out it was her Tracker leaking antifreeze.

Thankfully he survived! One of my first cats drank some antifreeze when I was about 7, and I sat beside her while she died a slow horrible death in the bathtub.

Probably the most traumatic event of my childhood.

^^ Yeah, that antifreeze sucks big time. My brother's big beautiful Akita drank from a drain pan placed up on a highchair which he thought would prohibit its access, but no such luck; dog died a horrible death in short order. The warnings are for real, because apparently for pets the stuff is more appealing than crack to a crack *****. Widgie definitely used up some of his lives on that one.

Same here, we never let them outside or in the garage.

Well, if it's raining we will open the doors and let them walk on the patio since we know they aren't going past the concrete.

Well, things took a sharp turn for the worse. Widgie's numbers from the blood test show that the hydration therapy just didn't work. Vets says that the amount of water he consumed daily, coupled with the unusually large volume of urine shows that this has been a problem for a long time.

Good news is that there were no signs at all of antifreeze poisoning. Apparently, they look for that, as it's a red flag for abused pets. He still won't drink, is barely eating. He has gone from almost 15 pounds to less than 9. He's sleeping with his brother next to him.

Vet comes at 11AM tomorrow to end it. I'm fighting back the tears - unsuccessfully - as I type this.

Very sorry to hear this. I recently experienced something very similar with one of my long time Kitties.

Not what I wanted to read tonight. I'm so sorry for your kitty.
