Just saw it with my boys for the second time, in 2d. I think I prefer 2d.
Second viewing held up solid. I looked hard this time, and was a bit surprised that nowhere does one of the characters actually make a reference to the (Solo, Millenium Falcon, droid with classified intel) scenario that replays itself. Something along the lines of "this can't be random coincidence, the Force must have a hand in this" or something like that.
I'm completely satisfied with this movie. It is true, essential Star Wars in flavor and feel. It obliterates the horrid taste that the Prequel Trilogy failures left behind. It resets the locomotive of the Star Wars Episodes out of the Mos Eisley scrapheap switching yard it had been directed into and back onto the Star Wars universe main line.
If I could have two SuperHero powers, the first would be to have my children actually listen when their parents speak, and to do what they've been asked to do efficiently and effectively the first time they're asked.
The second would be the ability to grant anyone the ability to be 10 years old and watch Star Wars Episode IV on opening night, and to experience the series without any foreknowledge whatsoever. Vader's reveal as Luke's father in Empire is truly one of the "holy ****" moments of cinema.
