I like Lola. I think you're ahead of the curve on that one as far as originality.

Funny, Elise was one of my wife's choices early on, we didn't use it, though.

We never told a soul what the names were before the babies were in front of us/them. This way, we didn't get any of the bs that happens, "I knew a 'xyz,' and he was an *******." No matter what the past associations people have of a certain name, they go away when they see your baby.

BTW, Lola IS that Kinks song, "then he was a she," etc. Hustler's theme song.

In for Lola Marie.

The Lotus Cortina dominated in 1965-66. Cortina is an interesting name.

I'm not fond of Maxine or Laila. And Colin Chapman's wife was called Hazel, hahaha. That's probably why he called her "Lotus Blossom."

To honor the Lotus racing heritage, if the next one is a boy you could call him Goodwood.

Whatever you do make sure you use a common spelling of the name. Poor kid won't want to go through life correcting people on how to spell her name.

"No sir, replace the c with a K and all the i's with y's."

If the Lotus theme is something you are interested in, how about looking at names associated with the Lotus Flower.

We watched the Pulp Fiction "collectors edition" last night but it left out some stuff that I was waiting for (i.e. Mia using the camcorder and the explanation of Beatles People vs Elvis People). Not sure which version you are supposed to get to see all of that stuff.

Oh, found a video of it (am I off topic yet?):

Even non minorities are going with "strange" names these days. Not critical or anything, just an observation. I probably won't stick to 1940's traditional white names either when I have kids.

What about Elan? I think both Cortina and Elan are workable. Just need the right middle name. Cortina actually isn't bad. All her friends could call her Cort.

For the record, my screen name here is my real 1st name. Wouldn't have it any other way. Sure everyone would make fun of me when I was 10. but frankly, at 10 kids make fun of each other. Now as an adult it is an asset. I am the only one anyone has ever met, and for better or for worse everyone remembers my name. If it takes your interest give the kid a strange name, she will thank you for it at some point.

How do you say queen in Welsh?

And I noticed you didn't capitalize English. Neither do the Scots and the Irish...

Dammit. It's just too easy with a guy named Blaize driving a Miata. Insert every possible gay joke here.
