Default The new hot swap?

4.3 GM v6 - 305 ft-lbs

Curious about weight given that it is likely an iron block.

Lol...I thought about doing this swap years ago. I had 2 S-10's that both had 4.3 vortec v6's. They ran amazing. It's a great motor.

there are eleventy billion motors that "can" fit and "can" work and "can" be great in a miata.

the trick is finding one cheap enough, compatible enough, light enough, and worthwhile enough to do. Also to get it to play nice with the rest of the drivetrain, or install the drivetrain it came with, or mix-n-match, or or or or.......

See where I'm going with this?

TL;DR: cool story bro, finding/buying the motor is only 1/10th of the progress

I get amusement how fast threads here can turn either gay or nerdy. It is hilarious.

If anything, the new Ford V6 has 300 bhp and is all aluminum. A much better choice than the GH iron block.
Just saying.

The 4.3's power delivery puts me to sleep. Yawn. Why you'd want that in a sports car is beyond me.

Friday night.

No date.

No one to call.

At home, alone.

Step 1: insult people on miata enthusiast message board.

Step 2: turn off google image search **** filter, type in hot swap.

Step 3: ????

Step 4: become a real man.

Well, it's an LS based block (supposedly) which means it should bolt to a V8 roadster subframe.

It's also aluminum, direct injection, and VVT. Since it's a base truck engine it should be a cheap junkyard buy in another 2 years.
