IDK maybe I'm just all geeked-up on that engine because of the power vs displacement and the fact that it's 3 cylinders.

Wikipedia says the block is the size of an A4 sheet of paper, so you could fit 2 in the engine bay for 400hp right?

No I get the appeal, its pretty cool. I'm just saying for all the work all these swaps require, you better end up with something seriously epic otherwise everyone will laugh at you as they achieve the same with a BP for a quarter of the pricetag.

I seriously want to adapt a D16 to a miata trans and flip the differential. From what ive heard people have successfully spun a lot of transmissions backwards without trouble.

D16 would be mad lightness and could be built to make 300hp like cake. Hell with how cheap the turbo manifold and and internals would be, it would make up for a lot of the cost of the adapter plate and such.
Of course there is still the oil pan issue, but with the motor being so short it may not be an issue.

Ok, give me the SCC-style breakdown of what makes the new 4.3 so awesome.

Not sure what you mean.

All-aluminum, compact direct-injected V6 with VVT and tons of torque. It's a mini LS with almost the same power figures as an early 2000's 5.3 v8 LS.

Good.

As for Mr. 1L EcoBoost... Seriously? Why are you going to take the 1.8L out that makes 138 hp stock and put in an engine that makes 120 hp stock? Doesn't make sense to me. Yes it'll be lighter but it's too tiny.

My main gripe is the fact that its brand new, and not cheap by any means.

Unless most of us are here in the next 5-10 years. lol

also good luck controlling DI
