McLaren is going to appeal. I really hope they win.

See I think the issue with Kimi passing under the waving yellow is a mute point. He had no time to brake, dove inbetween Kazoo and Hamilton, and then spun, he might of even lifted to let Hamilton by, causing the spin. Either way Hamilton got his position back. What was Kimi supposed to do, spin and then lift for Hamilton to get a little farther ahead?

I hope they loose the appeal, I don't think Hamilton gave enough of the advantage back after he cut the corner.

yeah, well a penalty is a penalty. I don't watch F1, but that was exciting to watch, the judgment against him ruined it.

update: McLaren has released information that they asked race control from the pitwall right after the pass whether or not letting Kimi by like Hamilton did was enough to forgive blowing the chicane. race control said it was fine, twice. interesting.

What is Ferrari saying about it? Are they keeping quiet or are they agreeing with the FIA? I think they need to step-up and side with McLaren on this one. They still get 2d with Massa, and they should KNOW from watching the tapes it's BS what the FIA is doing. It's called good sportsmanship, and it should still apply to F1. If not that, then at least do it to show that FIA isn't pro-Ferrari, just anti-McLaren.

have you watched F1 lately? there's usually not much fair playing going on. FIA is biased to whomever is winning the championship, to try and level it. And there's no way Ferrari is going to say anything about it. they're actually showing an incredible amount of sportsmanship by not helping to mount the attack against McLaren. I'd be surprised if it stayed that way

Yeah I doubt Ferrari would support the McLaren appeal. There is not much love lost between those two teams. Not only are they fiercely competitive but there is the whole lingering espionage debacle as well from last year. And there are huge sums of money at stake. Ferrari and McLaren spend well over $400M each on their F1 racing budgets.

Does it seem like they speed up the video at times? I know these machines are amazing, but sometimes the speeds at which they tackle the curves looks unnatural to impossible.

No, it is as crazy as it looks. F1 cornering ability is rivaled by none other on the ground. The braking ability is even more insane, like 5g+ They brake insanely late into the corners. When Jeff Gordon drove Montoya's F1 car at Indy a few years ago he kept going on and on about how amazing the brakes are. Most of the F1 drivers have developed large necks to support their heads under all of the g forges.

specialized equipment for strengthening the neck muscles actually. there's a fifth gear video of Needell being shown a typical workout of an F1 driver before actually driving one of the Williams

kinda figured this weekend we'd see an epic battle between Hamilton and Kimi to settle the debate on who is the better driver once and for all. just didn't think it would be happening mid-pack. Congrats to Vettel though. Anyone else watch it? The annoucers were discussing the clearification of the passing rule, stating that once you blow a turn, you must forefit any advantage gained, and wait until after the next corner to start battling for position again.
