You live in CT. I hear that's the ******* center of the country.

Over here 95% of drivers aggravate me. They drive slowly AND ARE SCATTERED ACROSS ALL THE LANES so you can't go past them.

Funny that you mention that.

A while back when we were having one of our epic threads and a bunch of folks were showing up from other forums to comment, I made a joke that I expected someone to show up from the Taurus forum before long, not even recognizing the possibility that a Taurus forum might actually exist.

Then someone showed up from the Taurus forum, quoted me, and said "hi."

Here people drive slow in fast lane. then if you want to pass on right they get pissy, block you, and then proceed to drive next to and the same speed as the person ahead of you.

I'm sure that has a lot to do with it. CT isn't exactly the buddy buddy state I guess you can say. Lots of douchebags.

Driving, I'm a maniac. Everyone is either going too slow or tailgating me. Its a joke! Not to mention all the people that are talking on their phones or texting while they drive. Jesus christ! Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person in my immediate area driving with a brain.

lol

The guys on the Taurus forum confuse me. They often refer to the car as a "bull" and mention its "Vulcan power". Most of if not all the threads over there are lacking the informative, interesting, or cool factor that a thread needs to live. Somehow though they find a way to continue to talk about nothing and post pictures of the lamest ******* **** I've even seen.

With exception to the SHO, the Taurus is nothing to brag about. Its really just a car to me, nothing more. It beats longboarding or catching rides from place to place because your miata is always parked. Plus its not as gay! lol

The especially lazy workers come to work with excuses and distractions ready, not only to avoid their own work, but to prevent other employees from getting their job done (I suppose in an effort to hide their own lack of productivity).

When these failures are pointed out to them, they complain as if they are junior high students being chastised by an overbearing teacher.
Better management would constantly recruit, hire, and replace them. Sounds like the management is lazy, too.

There is definitely a cultural difference in the way people drive in different parts of the country.

I've got a buddy who tailgates the **** out of people and thinks nothing of it, but goes APESHIT if anyone gets within 25 feet of his back bumper. He often pulls the brake check bullshit maneuver when people aren't really riding his ***. I know I'm a hypocrite about a few things but that one really bugs me.

I've heard it said that anyone going faster than you is a maniac and everyone going slower is a moron.

Not so much lazy as overly-optimistic that poor employees will suddenly have the light bulb go on and become much more productive workers.

Firing/hiring can be easier and harder in a small business, though. Easier because you can set very concrete goals and either fire the person or cut their hours if they can't/don't meet those goals. On the other hand, if you don't have someone ready to step in to their responsibilities, you can make things really, really difficult on everyone else.

That's where endlessly recruiting good people becomes important. From my early days in restaurant management I can tell you that good managers are always recruiting outside of work. I recruited everywhere from the grocery store to the bank to other restaurants- everywhere I went. If they were good workers I was asking them if they were being treated well where they were, had the hours they wanted, and if their pay was good. If I hired somebody good I could dump a loser and make my life (and the lives of the other employees) better.

Edit: The best people aren't usually out of work. They may be unhappy where they are but they are responsible and dedicated enough to keep working somewhere to pay the bills(even outside their chosen field). They won't always come to you. You have to go find them. Most of the lousy workers I hired weren't working somewhere when I hired them. Strangely enough the lousy ones often came in and asked for an application instead of asking the manager for a job. I think there is a big difference. Or they would ask a waitress "Are you hiring?" as if a waitress could hire anyone.

I just wonder what people did before the Interwebs and all of these forums existed.

In that case, a turbo miata in the emergency lane works well. You would be shocked at how many times the guy that "just wants to drive the speed limit" will speed up to an ungodly amount of speed to attempt to dash your efforts and prove is point. Self righteous lane cloggers that think it is their duty in the world to police the speed of traffic is one of my huge pet peeves.

Went to the auto parts store and bought the Chilton.

But that was back when all of the nuances of modern cars didn't exist yet.

That's what all the guys down at the shop say. They give me **** and say things like "ohh let me guess, you can find it online?" or "ohhh did you read that on the Internet?". Yet they always end up asking me to help them out with anything computer related, and when none of them have the answer they want me to "google" it.

Now that we have the technology, we probably couldn't live without it. Well not really...but it would suck. Without forums, how would real world losers have human contact?
