'09+ VW Golf TDI. Looking at getting one for the GF. Not the prettiest, but you like the GTI, so guess you're okay with that.

42+mpg, 170hp, 200 something tq, and a decent 6 speed automatic, if you get that option.

Now that the Genesis Coupe ECU has been hacked people are doing amazing things with just bolting on turbos and bigger injectors, and other simple items. I've seen a pretty easy 350+ whp.

The Genesis engine is very similar to the Evo X engine so the potential for high power is good. The track version even comes with Brembos and a torsen. My friend just bought one and he loves it.

Im not opposed to that as long as its only got like 10k miles and no mods, which anything good is hard to find like that (evo/sti/etc)

My friend recently bought an '09 Civic Si 4 door. K20 iV-Tec, 6 speed. For a bone stock 4 door car, I think it rips. I saw they're coming out with a Mazda 2. Starts at like 13,900. Looks like a good little economy car that I know nothing about.

Love my Speed3.

IIRC, Genesis 2.0 is not making reliable daily power over 300whp without rebuilt/forged. Like that car though.

This would be a reasonably enjoyable daily driver, that doesn't have many upgrade options to be tempted by. Bonus is the number of parts that can be hauled when you fold down the back seat...

263hp from a 3.5L V6, warrantied go-fast bits and insurance friendly.

Honestly, this is the only correct answer in the thread. This is as fast as you'll go for $30k brand new today.

Aside from his $25K budget limit and a desire to avoid modding his DD.

As plug 'n play as the Mustang is, with the glut of go faster parts, the temptation might to be to great for our young Jedi...

I'm in a similar boat and although you have specified "New", I'm going to be looking for a 04-07 STi. Everyone seems to love them, they do great in all weather and I'm sure they are just a ton of fun to drive. My $.02.
