Problem with geese
#61
Too bad they netted them, geese can be fun to scare..because they never learn.
My old house was on a lake and had a nice acre of lush grass that went from my house right down to the water. It was like a ******* goose salad bar. Sometimes there would be a couple hundred of them. I tried the usual chasing them on foot...then with a golf cart, making a small "fence" with wood posts and chicken wire, and other useless efforts. But the one thing I had fun doing..and would terrorize the **** out of those feathery *****......shoot whistling bottle rockets about 10ft over their heads. See, geese have a thing about **** flying over their heads...let alone things that make loud noises and bangs. Smoke bombs launched from sling shots has a similar effect as well.....just without all the cool noises.

No problem. It work for me for years....then the neighborhood board bought swans to keep the geese away :(
Oh and let me tell you, if a goose is charging you, stand your ground. Right when that ****** gets near you, grab it's neck..right by the head....and pick it up. A goose being held by it's neck is about as threatening as a box of tissues. Geese don't have good reflexes when you reach out to grab them...seriously.

mgeoffriau, that was hillarious.
After my attempted homicide by Jeep last night, the geese ran when they saw me pull in this morning. No chance to run them over.
faeflora, I am a human. Top of the food chain. Geese could have moved in on the other side, and not messed with me and been fine. They decided to be agressive, so I will make sure that that becomes an evolutionary dead end.

No, you're not at the top of the food chain. Something's going to kill you and I'll be it's not going to be old age. You're just an insecure ***** who's afraid of a ******* bird. You think you're a big man for going aggro on a goose? You're not. You're a just a little baby girl.
I always aim for birds.

Geese don't learn. They think you are invading their space and you won't convince them otherwise. You can't blame the thing for doing what it was programmed to do.
But if it starts the fight, kill it quickly, don't make it suffer. While some might interpret that as being cold, that's fair by all laws of nature. For extra points from mother nature, clean it, cook it, and say a blessing over it's carcass before your meal.
Yep, I grew up in the country.

Poisoning would not be an option for me, either. Too much like torture. I had no intention of making them suffer, just wanting them gone.
BTW, the one taken by animal control never came back. But I did buy an airsoft gun, just because they're fun.
