Yeah, you're probably right. Can't go backwards...

I do still fire up the NES games from time to time. I finished Kid Icarus a few months ago. Never did that before.

And that BBS documentary, I actually downloaded it when it first came out, but I honestly didn't find it all that interesting. I only watched the first hour or so, but all I took from it was a couple of guys sitting around talking about their machines. None of the social aspect of early computing seemed to be reflected...

HST anyone?

Why not, I'll comment on this too. Thats what happens when you build 500 bikes that look identical, yet expect $200,000 for them. I don't and never did watch the show on a regular basis, but if I saw one more webbed bike I was going to vomit.

Is that honestly the sort of money people spend on those things?

I mean, I knew they were pricey, but $200k? Seriously? Is it really that much better than a Ferrari F430?

they built their $12 million HQ in 2009, now its worth like 7 mill because of the econ...

so they stopped paying went into "foreclosure" and are renegoitating the mortgage. sad thing is, the lender pretty much has to play ball, because some money is better than none.

A factory OCC bike starts at around 30K, im sure the ones on tv are at least a quarter mill.

IIRC their HQ is something like 90,000 square feet. You don't build a 12 million dollar building selling 30k bikes Joe, I've heard some of their bikes have sold 'retail' for over $200k and some at auction even more. Have never personally seen one of their custom "theme" bikes myself however a friends company paid them to build one a few years back and he said its pretty cheezedick.

That really sucks man, sorry to hear. Whats sad is I'd completely trade places with you right now, I wish to hell someone would total mine (preferably without me in it..)

Hopefully they're insured..

Ok, I'll start by admitting that I know next to nothing about OCC or the custom chopper scene in general. My entire knowledge base here consists of having seen part of their show a couple of times at a hotel.

So, as best as I can tell, people will actually pay a quarter of a million dollars for a motorcycle which they can't ride that was thrown together at the last minute by an angry man with a beard, his idiot son, and some of his idiot son's slacker friends.

I'm in the wrong line of work.

Sidebar: OMG OMG OMG, WE JUST HAD AN EARTHQUAKE! WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!!!

(wait, what?)

Oh. Ok. Everything is fine and we're not all going to die.

A roughly equivalent HD chopper is $20,000, figure that out.

That being said this seems reasonably priced at $8000 and I want one:

Although I'm sure it sucks.

Basically, Except two idiot sons don't talk to their father anymore and have started their own custom motorcycle shop.

I've been wanting one of these...

The Harley "custom chopper" is guaranteed to be a bike you can actually ride. Most of the crap OCC builds is custom junk that sits in a showroom. Not to mention, Harley builds things like that on an assembly line here in KC...

I've been attempting to find this video for a couple years and finally found it..

I'm going to go out on a bit of a limb here and state, with great honesty and sincerity, that the CB250 Nighthawk is still the greatest motorcycle which has ever been built.

Nope.

Some day, when you become a man, you will understand why this is so.

Actually, if I'd been allowed to buy a motorcycle as a teenager as I had wanted, chances are good I'd never have reached manhood.
