Worked 26 hours in 2 days. Got another 10 tomorrow. Hopefully off Christmas eve and Christmas day, then back at it after the holiday.

Seeing posts like this makes me feel a tad guilty about thinking impressive thoughts concerning my own crew's work.
The problems that I have are mostly along the lines of "This small, innocent looking thing will kill you instantly if you touch it" and "if this valve gets opened at the wrong time, then we will flood the tallest building in Chicago with tens of thousands of gallons of water."
Sadly, neither of those make for impressive visuals, presupposing that we did everything correctly.
This is about as close as I can come:

We stay away from calling them "fires". They are known as "thermal events" to those who need to know.
I can imagine that any indecent that will require you to fill out paperwork is infinitely more serious than anything to happen where i am. You know, with civilians in play and all. There isn't a single union worker here, all good ol' boys who are making great money and only sit down once in 12 hours for 30 minutes at lunch.

"Extinguishing small thermal events on the ground" sounds silly. I don't think I could do that with a straight face.
Besides, there's a guy on a ladder deliberately creating very large (or, at least, highly concentrated) thermal events with a stick welder. And I gotta say, his stick welds look better than a loft of TIG welds. These guys who work with 1/4" thick steel pipe and caveman's tools just amaze me sometimes.
We actually had only one unplanned thermal event on that job. They were installing a centrifugal strainer in our plant water system, to spin out all of the sand, gravel, bird skeletons, etc., which get pumped to us from the roof:
At the bottom is the drain line, which you open once a week to blow the accumulated debris out. And that's PVC pipe coming out of it to the floor drain.
You know how on the side of the can of PVC cement there's a warning about how amazingly flammable it is? Yeah, they weren't kidding. Don't open a can of that stuff and then set it on the ground just below where someone is welding steel pipe.
I'll never forget what the building engineer in attendance said, as I was standing about six feet away with a fire extinguisher on the ground next to me. "Why is there fire there?"
It was asked so calmly and innocently. We've just started a chemical fire on the 98th floor of the building, and he's just like "are you sure the floor is supposed to be on fire?"

A couple years ago we were hanging out in the office and the boss comes in and says "do you know there is a fire in the shop?". The obvious response was "no", and he then proceeded to tell us that someone should go back there and put it out.
in here today. Got the polymer concrete down, etched, laying fiberglass and resin down now. Getting high as hell! It's great.
A while back I was thinking about a toy I had long ago. After some searching I found a few on eBay. Looked over the offerings and finally bid on one that was complete (but not tested). Won the auction and it arrived, poorly packed but luckily not broken save for one of the gun barrels laying in the box. Put some batteries in it to find it would only traverse partially in one direction. Only one of the gun barrels would move and then only occasionally. Today I disassembled it to have a look. The attachment for the one inoperative barrel was laying inside the gun body so put that back on. Did some cleaning of corroded contacts on the controls, and we have a winner!I loved this thing when I had it before.
Second shot is supposed to be a video but isn't working for some reason. It shows the gun traversing and firing.
