Not bad for $3 each. One AA or a 14500 battery. 2 hour run time on high, 8 hours on low, and it has a strobe function. Good clip, water sealed, water proof up to a few meters. Adjustable beam. Straight out of China. Padded envelope had Chinese characters all over it.

Link to the flashlights? I've got 3 MagLights in the house, and can't find any of them.

Amazon.com: FordEx Group 300lm Mini Cree Led Flashlight Torch Adjustable Focus Zoom Light Lamp: Home Improvement Amazon.com: FordEx Group 300lm Mini Cree Led Flashlight Torch Adjustable Focus Zoom Light Lamp: Home Improvement

Apparently it's a crapshoot. Some people have gotten bad batches of lights where none of them worked, others get different lights all together. I was lucky and all of mine were the same and all work perfectly. But for $3.80 each, plus free shipping, it's not such a big risk. Standard shipping is slow though, expect a month wait. Xi Zou can only run so fast with a backpack full of flashlights.

Finally, I managed to find a copy of Wil Wheaton's Spicy Dick Milk monologue from this year's W00tstock:

If you listen *really* hard, you can hear me laughing my *** off in the audience.

At that price I don't think those can be true Cree LEDs. Especially since they are an american company.

They probably aren't. They aren't THAT bright, certainly not the advertised 300lm. Still pretty bright for a $3.80 flashlight, and well worth the money for what you get. Perfect light for in the car, or in a pocket, since it's not much bigger than a cigarette lighter (though a bit thicker and heavier).

Here it is on a wall from ~3' next to my Streamlight ProTac HL, a claimed 600lm light, with pretty old batteries. ProTac left of course, this little light on the right.

With the tightest beam, you actually see the LED itself, which is pretty cool. Normally that would be something that would bother my o.c.d. senses, but in this case it's sort of alright. And when it's at that tightest beam, the hot spot is actually almost as bright as the ProTac, just without a halo around it. So you either have the soft halo, or the hotspot, not both like on the ProTac.

I've got a bunch of these from HF. Great for keeping in the car or taking fishing, camping, biking, etc.

LED Flashlight, Mini 2 Piece 9 LED 3-1/2"

P.S. There are multiple no pictures violations above me.

I have those; they don't hold a candle to a real flashlight. I keep one in the bathroom and use it to look into my mouth on occasion.

I have a Redline for real flashlight needs:

Amazon.com: Nebo 5581 220 Lumen Redline Tactical Flashlight Strobe S.O.S: Home Improvement Amazon.com: Nebo 5581 220 Lumen Redline Tactical Flashlight Strobe S.O.S: Home Improvement

It's not the greatest I've ever seen (I liked what y8s had), but REALLY bright for the price.

If that China one is really 300 lumens, then that's an AWESOME price for the birghtness, but I feel like my Redline looks more like NAGuy's Protac.

give me one good picture based reason why I shouldn't ban all of you for debating stupid $3 flashlights in the picture thread.

That seems like more reason for banning.

I dont trust server based storage for a legit back-up medium. Unless it's like my external drive plugged into my router.
